Re: Use sketch for kinematic

For the next part I again select meaningful origin and orientation, draw something in the first sketch so body will be visible and then move the second part to there it should be relative to the first and design it there. This sounds alot like what I do (modelling in context) except I first locate ...

Re: Use sketch for kinematic

It would be helpful if you indicated what version you are using. It seems that the expressions fail for V0.18 or early V0.19 with multiple error messages in the report view: ...Failed to parse expression. No extension found of type 'PartGui::ViewProviderAttachExtension'... But, I get no error for my...

Re: Derived parts

In Autodesk inventor it is possible to import a sketch from a different part and reuse this in a new part...Would be great if Freecad has something similar, I am unable to find it. This may be what you are looking for if you are working in one file: https://www.freecadweb.org/wiki/Sketcher_CarbonCopy

Re: Use sketch for kinematic

Because bodies can not be ATTACHED to things? They can be placed but they will not follow sketch changes. They can if they are created from a carboncopy of the master sketch. In the example you referenced, there were eighteen (18) bodies created from multiple copies (Edit>duplicate selection) of a ...

V0.19_Rupnow Vertical Cylinder Engine--A Mastersketch Study

Since V0.18 I have become a fierce proponent of master and carboncopy sketches to avoid all topological issues and to simplify the modelling process. This Rupnow engine is a good intermediate level project to show how these master sketches can be also used to verify the position of rotating and reci...

Re: V8 model aero engine

Awesome, especially with all its incredible detail and complexity.
Well done. I can appreciate the hard won skill, knowledge, and effort to create this kind of assembly.
Can hardly wait for the next one!

Re: V0.19: Gas Turbine Engine for RC Aircraft

Could you elaborate on CarbonCopy kicking sketch out of Part container? Sorry for glossing over that. What I should have wrote more precisely is that a copy (Edit>Duplicate selected object) of the CarbonCopy is kicked out of the Part. When I have multiple features that depend on a single master ske...

V0.19: Gas Turbine Engine for RC Aircraft

This is a small gas turbine engine for use in radio controlled (RC) model aircraft. The engine was designed and developed by Kurt Schreckling in 1992. It is remarkably simple design that can apparently be created using basic machine shop tools by experienced RC hobbyists using readily available mate...
