H,i I hope you enjoy this project also
Thanks for your comments.
It seems as though we have the same interest in these elegant machines and the challenge of modelling them with FreeCAD.
The models you share on the Forum have always been an inspiration to me.

Re: V0.19: Clayton Steam Wagon--UPDATE #1

I have been working on the components of the boiler such as the water box, feedwater heater, and the boiler assembly as shown in the following screen captures. Much of the boiler is complete except for all the connection fittings and internal tube banks which are currently in process. Picture8.jpg P...

Re: American Hudson locomotive

Amazing. Absolutely amazing detail. Nice color highlighting. I know how much effort these models take. More pictures please, especially of the internal components? Was this done with PartDesign workbench? Which Version? How did you route all the tubing in 3D space? I find that process to be the most...

Re: FreeCAD Challenge 2019-06 June - Hole Punch

Do you know macro FCSpring? I do. It seems to have the same problem with the discontinuity, unless I am not using it correctly. If you try to increase the smoothing it runs too slowly for my short patience. Here's my take on one solution that is a bit of trial and error to obtain a smooth transitio...

Re: FreeCAD Challenge 2019-06 June - Hole Punch

here is my FreeCAD model Thanks for sharing. Nicely done. A question: How did you create the wire for the spring sweep path? I have not found a good way to eliminate the 'kink' in the end coils where the cylindrical portion joins the helix. See also my previous comment about attaching the sketch no...

Re: FreeCAD Challenge 2019-06 June - Hole Punch

Thanks for your comments. 1. Not sure what are you seeng. Part1 is at 0,0,0. I modeled the parts so 0,0,0 will be at 0,0,0 of their respective drawings Ok, I understand why now. I almost always try to locate planes of symmetry of the assembly at the global origin irrespective of the drawings. It see...

Re: Freecad Challenge 2019-06 June - Hole Punch

Thank you for posting your model. There is much to be learned by reviewing others' techniques, both for beginners as well as experienced users. I have a some questions/comments: 1. Why did you choose to offset the model from the global origin? 2. Please note that p1chamfer fails at 1 mm (V18.16093+1...

Yes please!
File is attached.
Please note that several components of the subassembly were deleted to reduce the file size.
Any questions or comments are welcome.

Have you tried to first click the "toggle construction geometry" button and then use CarbonCopy?
Yes I have, at the suggestion of kilsolre, and it is exactly what I wanted. Thanks for all your comments.
