Re: Wiki pages that need love before 0.17 release

I felt like the explanation of welding, gluing, etc. was unnecessary. But I have lots of experience with solid modeling. For me, I feel like a body is created from a collection of features that must all be connected together (hence the one contiguous solid). Features can either add material to the e...

Re: Translation mechanics

So IIUC the proper procedure is to make the changes, and then don't worry about the translation. The admins will take care of marking the pages I've changed.

After your changes, mark the page for the translation. This reflects the changes on the translated pages.

Can I mark the page for translation? If so, how? I don't have a link at the top to mark it.

Re: Help for first steps within the wiki

I have now found that this is translation infrastructure that is automatically added. I should not modify these when I am updating the page. For more information, see https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Ext ... on_example

Translation mechanics

I think it would be good to have an explanation of the automatic translation mechanics. I just made an edit to the Basic Part Design Tutorial, https://www.freecadweb.org/wiki/Basic_Part_Design_Tutorial and got the message that "This page contains changes which are not marked for translation.&qu...

Re: Help for first steps within the wiki

I'm wanting to edit some structures on Wiki pages.

There is one command in the source that I don't understand:

<!--T:8-->

Is this syntax explained anywhere? I've searched the wiki and the forums, and I can't see it explained.

Thanks,

Carl

Re: Moved views on TechDraw not saved

TechDraw_NewProjGroup DATA AutoDistribute : If true, space out individual views automatically. Use false to position manually. I am not satisfied with the autodistribute option myself, neither of disabling it altogether. Maybe we could ask for a third option: auto-alignment of views in reference to...

Re: Moved views on TechDraw not saved

Solved! I found the developer TechDraw forum, with this post: https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=26585#p211831 I just needed to set AutoDistribute to False for the ProjGroup, and then things work properly. It might be nice to have AutoDistribute automatically set to False when a p...

Wiki Editing Permissions

I'm making this post so I can PM you to try to get Wiki editing permissions.

Last time I looked at FreeCAD i was not impressed. Now I am! Great job, dev team.

I'd like to see about getting my toes wet in contributing, and I'd like to start with documentation.
