Re: patterns that conform to irregular surfaces--and they are vector, not raster

In general yeah. But as with UV mapping it might even be shifted around (even though it would be vectors and not a map) at the surface of the geometry, and all the gaps between the lines would be as close to uniformly shaped as possible if the deformations are shallow enough. (I.e., outlier diamond-...

patterns that conform to irregular surfaces--and they are vector, not raster

1. Being able to drop a mesh over a 3D surface with unique topology and have its vertices calculated in space. An example is the exterior shell of the new SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, where few of the triangular cladding panel edges have the same dimension as others that comprise the surface, but th...

Re: Seeking advice on complex workflows (multiple machines)

I use either Wavefront .obj or Collada .dae to export to Blender, and that pipeline works well. I'd bet the results will be similar with Unreal. Alias Mesh .obj, STEP, other export formats are available. Files in FreeCAD can be merged (File!Merge project...) so that standalone models in either can b...

In Windows there's a FreeCAD user AppData\Roaming directory that contains a system.cfg. If that is deleted I think the app defaults will return.

Re: Computer specs to run FreeCad efficiently

All I know is in my NVIDIA Control Panel once, a "High-performance NVIDIA processor" selection in the Preferred graphics processor drop-down field got inadvertently set to Integrated graphics (there's both a Global Settings tab and Program Settings tab). I was using FreeCAD. Things moved r...

Re: trace perimeter

What are you trying to do ? (hand-drawing ?) Yeah, because I don't know how to use Sketcher workbench. I'll research Sketcher later, but how did you produce the drawing above? UPDATE : Now that I'm remembering anything about reading about Sketcher in the past, as I recall, if memory serves correctl...

Re: trace perimeter

question_to_freecad_forum.FCStd (About Sketcher, I ony open New and start drawing lines with Draft and Part. I would have to look at documentation on Sketcher; if I use that workbench on the existing drawing that Sketcher Polyline tool is grayed out. Draft has Polyline too, but there seems to be no...

Is there a polyline-like tool that can follow the perimeter of an enclosed area (like the attached) composed of connected arcs and lines, and then just enclose/close and fill? Thanks.
