Re: Unexpected behavior: "Pad: Result has multiple solids..."

See the information on feature editing. Unlike other CAD programs, when using PartDesign in FreeCAD, the resulting object must always be contiguous. If you try to create a solid that is detached from a previously created solid, the operation will fail. To expand on the above, the concept is that a ...

Re: Printed Circuit Board - Parts

I don't know KiCAD, but there is a low priced program "DipTrace". I like the way they structure pricing, you can get a starter package for $75. A full PCB layout program for $75, that is pretty cool. If you want to do more complex boards then you pay more. I used it for a few boards, works good, it ...

Re: Printed Circuit Board - Parts

The normal process of design is to make a crude 3D model like you are doing, export just the PCB to a PCB layout program as a DXF. After the PCB is designed the PCB program typically has an exporter to allow an updated 3D model to be imported back into FreeCAD. How do you go about adding parts to yo...

Re: Hello Freecad, new to the program and hoping to help where possible.

Another thing that could be useful is some research on how to make a video quickly, the formats have been settled I believe. FreeCAD changes quickly so videos are dated quickly. Some good direction on tools that work on different OS's, those tools need to be something the users will download, many u...

Re: How to smooth out cylinder face, as part's component

Angular deflection of 2.00 and deviation of 0.01 will get you a very smooth surface on the screen. I use those values on finished objects to 3Dprint. I never did finish my testing on how the screen looked compared to an export of the STL. I could swear there was some kind of relation but testing was...

Can I add additional data to a part container?

I want to store some additional coordinates and some flags in a part container, is there a way to do that so I don't mess things up for the program, past and future? I don't think I can add additional properties.
Thank you
