Re: Assembly3, A2plus, Assembly4? Get united!

Currently we have at least these three Assembly workbenches. And none of these deserves yet to be called "The FreeCAD Assembly Workbench". @realthunder,kbwe, zolko: ... For the FreeCAD community it would be phantastic to see you walk into one direction! Having "The FreeCAD assembly Workbench" for s...

Re: Another approach to assembly solver (A2plus)

Hi everyone,

all those people who are already working with FC0.19 after link merge and using A2plus, should update to A2plus version V0.4.27.
The behavior of the part containers changed since link merge and prevented the correct A2plus import of part design files. This is fixed now.

Hi,
use "pointOnPlane" constraint.
1) select the upper circle of the pin. It's center is used as point.
2) select the guiding plane surface
3) hit the pointOnPlane-button
4) set an offset, so that the pin is in the middle of the slot.

After doing this, the assembly shows as here:

Re: Rings placement

Hi, unfortunately there is no constraint for a torus within A2plus at Moment. Instead, it is possible to work with a cylinder as a helping object. This helper can be made invisible later and it is not imported to a main assembly (A2p-preference "do not import invisible objects"). If you do offsets ...

Re: Get highest objects of model

Hello, is it possible to get all highest objects in the model? To example if you have a Cut of two Boxes, then the Cut is the highest object. A model can contain several highest objects of course. If you only iterate over the objects and test if InList is empty, you get problems, e.g. the base of a...

Re: A2Plus part placement

Well All, after many attempts I finally got everything placed and all but one constraints fixed. The last constraint I'm having problems with is a pin within a slot. I've tried several types of constraint, but none work. So now I'm wondering if it's possible to do what I want? What constraints woul...

File "C:/Users/AppData/Roaming/FreeCAD/Macro/simulation - test.py", line 31, in <module> sw.Placement.Rotation.Angle = math.radians(angle) <class 'AttributeError'>: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'Placement' you need to use the real object's name within in the makro. Please have a look at the report view for errors shown there regarding A2plus.
If there are such messages, please post them.

in A2p there is an option to use solids instead of shells
It does not help up from second level assembly. Solid generation fails very often and shells are used as fall back.

P.S: Using Solid union slows down the assembly, breaks coloring and toponaming. As described before.

Re: Invalid A2+-assembly of valid objects

I may be on to something. Fixing the tolerances in the parts, turning the shells into solids and fusing the result gives something that passes Check Geometry without a peep. Not sure if this is a general solution yet, but it looks promising. Hi wandererfan, thank you for your proposal. I think it i...
