Can I use the number of specific polar array as an expression?
Sure (I'm guessing you're using a Draft WB > Array):

Re: Beginner needs help on angled base plane

My goal is to draw the complete top, but not the hull. first of all, bejant, I could not have a look at your example drawing yet. ok, so I have to make a body for each part to be cut. If you're only going to laser cut flat 2D pieces, and you trust that the plans you're working from are correct, you...

I like your version too. To me it's always interesting to see how other people model something in FreeCAD.

Re: Pipe (sweep) along path with multiple axis

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. Hi BNE_CAD_GUY, and welcome! Here is something to get you started, done with Part and Sketcher WBs. 20190919c.png 20190919-Helix.FCStd You might want to select Sweep from the history tree, then at the bottom of left of the FreeCAD window click the Data tab ...

Re: Beginner needs help on angled base plane

Although you don't need it, I made a Sketch of the entire front wall. I did that mostly so I could better understand the model, and to use it as a visual guide. After making that Sketch, I changed the Placement in the Global Z direction -338.70 mm so that the bottom of the roof is at Z = 0. Because ...

Re: Beginner needs help on angled base plane

A 'boot" is type of shoe ...goes on your foot, you mean "boat" as in the thing that goes in water. :) I'm used to seeing the German word for "boat" as "boot", although at first I was thinking the trunk of a car! I try to draw the "roof" of the tugboot. Ok, that shouldn't be difficult to model, and ...

Re: I'm sure it's simple...

I'm a bit late but will offer another method, all done in Part Design. To change the size of the model, edit Constraint30 (the Constraint is named "Control") in Sketch and / or the Length of Pad. In hindsight, Sketch could have been simpler. 20190918a.png 20190918.FCStd OS: Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS (ubunt...

Re: Active body problem - Freecad v 0.18

Assume I create a new part in PART WB, let's say a Cube. In FreeCAD, the word "Part" has special meanings. I'm guessing what you mean to say is that you just did File > New, or clicked the Create A New Document tool, and you now have a new FreeCAD document with nothing in it. Then in the Part WB, y...

Re: Beginner needs help on angled base plane

Hi degwi, and welcome! If you can upload a hand sketch of what you want to model, with enough dimensions so we can understand it, we can give you better help. Is it the roof of your tugboat you're trying to model? (Or the hull?)
