Re: WB Sheet metal - perforation and unfolding

changing the bending radius resolved the error when unfolding. Thank you for your support with this issue. Only the issue related to cut out of the symbols remains. Symbols are contained in a sketch which is fully contained/defined. When applying the pocket function in WB Part design, an error messa...

WB Sheet metal - perforation and unfolding

<t>Dear fellow Freecad users, <br/> We are preparing an item using the sheet metal WB, see attached. Some of the bends have cut outs and one of the perforations (two symbols made in a sketch attached to the sheet) fail to cut through the sheet. Unfortunately we do not understand the root cause for t...

Re: Sweep - Deformation of profile

Dear all, Thank you for your support and valuable input for resolving this issue of designing a coil consisting of straight parts combined with bends with constant radius. The item is a heat exchanger and the bending machines are are capable of producing items with straight parts or bends with const...

Sweep - Deformation of profile

Dear Fellow FreeCAD users, We are preparing the design of a tube coil applying the sweep feature of FreeCAD but face a challenge, maintaining the profile shape when sweeping along the center line of the part, and we would be so grateful for your contribution for overcoming this problem. 1. Original ...

Re: Sheet Metal modeling - pad error with arc of ellipse

To fix it: Delete the horizontal construction line Delete the https://www.freecadweb.org/wiki/images/thumb/7/7d/Constraint_PointOnObject.png/32px-Constraint_PointOnObject.png point on object constraint With the mouse, draw a box over the point where the ellipse and the vertical line apparently meet...

Re: Sheet Metal modeling - pad error with arc of ellipse

Known problem, segments hangs on to the lines of construction, not in segment adjoining, you have a perfectly green, but open sketch Now you wishes to have an edge vertical to the curve eliptique, it is not possible, you haves to takes your hammer and an anvil .Sorry  I have you to send the me...

Sheet Metal modeling - pad error with arc of ellipse

Dear all, We are preparing a sheet metal part with bends, based on a padded 2D sketch. The 2D boundaries contain holes and an arc of ellipse and fails to pad for applying a thickness. I wonder if any user have faced a similar issue when applying the part design pad function - and how to overcome ? (...

Re: Sheet Metal bending

I think there are two separate issues : FreeCAD has an underlying weakness regarding internal topological identification. Basically, vertices, edges and faces are assigned ID numbers randomly. When you change a property, the object is recomputed, and if the number of faces changes, then the previou...

Re: Sheet Metal bending

I mean you cannot make gaps after all bends are made, because bends are mapped on a face. So new gaps creating new faces, and freecad are puzzled. And if you have to use freecad usually, you should use the new features of 017 (Part Design) ;) Hi GlouGlou, Thank you for your feedback. If I und...
