Re: Problem making 1" ISO-228 internal thread with WB Part

Thank you for this input! In fact before cutting thread the thread profile was offset and tilted without having the intended consequence. As per your suggestion, the main body has been defined in a series of bodies applying the WB Part design and subsequently fusioned or cut into final shape. Appare...

Re: Problem making 1" ISO-228 internal thread with WB Part

Dear Papyblaise, Thank you for your input. According to ISO228 (BSPP) a G1" thread has largest diameter D=33.25mm, smallest diameter d=30.93mm and a pitch of 2.309mm The hole in the part subject to the thread has a diameter of 30.96mm. Maybe the thread type you applied is of a different standar...

Problem making 1" ISO-228 internal thread with WB Part

Freecad - ISO228 thread 01.jpg Dear fellow Freecad users, I am reaching out to you for advice on adding a G1" internal thread to a part. A usually easy task to cut a internal thread ISO228 1" in a part however the outcome is not right for some reason and I fail to find the root cause. A m...

Re: Sheet Metal workbench - unfold failing issue when cutting

Dear Alex and @papyblaise, Thank you for your kind assistance for resolving this issue. Truly grateful for your support, experience and creativity in applying Freecad. I would not have thought of this solution myself - successfulyy unfold the sheet metal part by changing an arc of elilpse (projected...

I also think the issue is related to a thickness which is not constant after cutting. However I can not figure out how to do a cut along a corder line which then needs to be projected on the bended part?

Sheet Metal workbench - unfold failing issue when cutting

Dear fellow users, I am facing an issue unfolding a part designed with the sheet metal workbench which is cut into shape with the "Cut" part WB function. I assume that the root cause of the error is, that the cut function does not cut the sheet metal in a 90-degree angel. Unfortunately I d...

Re: Sheet Metal - bending a closed corner

https://wiki.freecadweb.org/SheetMetal_Workbench thank you for sharing the link to the sheet metal WB which is e good introduction to the basic functionalities. However it was another tutorial I was refering to in order to prepare more complex bends which this design apparently is. The key design f...

Re: Sheet Metal - bending a closed corner

if you want Sheetmetal to unfold the edges, the edges must not touch and fuse you must not give r the value = 0, nor make a spherical wedge to cover the corner you just need to use the Extend tool on the edge Thank you for your comments. The corner indicated without open relief is actually being ma...

Re: Sheet Metal - bending a closed corner

Dear Alexu, Thank you for taking your time to reflect on this issue. As you mention, applying a bending radius of 0 is unpractical for the numeric bending machines and we would be in favor of identifying an alternative solution. Other 3D cad systems offers features to achieve the type of bend, and I...

Re: Sheet Metal - bending a closed corner

Dear MEndy, Thank you for your comments though your input does not solve this issue. I remember to have seen in the past, a guide for the FreeCad sheet metal workbench, which enables this type of bends which does not leave open space to the inside of the structure. I did try a two step approach by i...
