Re: sheet metal - bend from sketch

At work I create a lot of sheet metal parts. In the CAD program there is a bend function to bend an existing plate along a sketch line. I almost never use this tool. As Jay-Bee said, the whole idea is to build the sheet metal model just as its final state; then flatten it for laser cutting/turret pu...

Re: duckduckgo !fc bang

I found the topic in less than 10 seconds. I just entered "!fc duckduckgo" in the Search field at the top right of the forum, in the black header.

@yeKcim

Please do not use an external hosting service for images, at least do not use the thumbnail feature that forces us to click on the thumbnail to see the full size image on a website plagued with dubious ads.

You can attach images directly to the forum, we prefer that. Thank you.

Re: What's the use of Template:Emphasis

What is certain is that a wiki is not an ideal medium to build documentation. It works okay now because many users can edit it, however, maybe in the future a system like Latex or XML should be used to produce a proper PDF manual. In that case, a more complex markup language would probably be neces...

Re: Discussion: Using Mediawiki Transclusion (embedding wiki pages in wiki pages)

I think transclusions definitely have advantages, such as typing once, and using many times. However, my impression from NormandC comments is that although this works fine in English, it may complicate the job of translators. It does, if the template needs to be translated, because it forces them o...

Re: [Discussion] Defining core workbenches

For quite a few experienced users, the big problem with PartDesign is that the Body container doesn't support compounds (multi-bodies). They don't like the strict rules enforced by PartDesign. So they work with sketches and Part Extrude/Revolve/Loft/Sweep and Booleans. Part is not limited to primiti...

Re: Opt-in/out Usage Statistics

Everybody and their uncle seem to want to track what I'm doing. How do I opt out? Count me in in the opt-out crowd. In fact, that's one of the reason I use open source software, so I don't even get asked to opt in! I'm sure I'm not alone. Prepare for heavy backlash if you go with something like this.

Re: 0.18 two issues (treeview and zooming peformance)

I confirm that Tree view and Property view have indeed been removed from View --> Panels in v0.18. :? Not sure why. It might be accidental. Pinging mlampert who recently added the new View --> Document Tree sub-menu, maybe he'd be able to figure it out? And of course Do you have insight on this? Tha...

Re: How to add screw holes around disc edge

I have great doubt that even a first-class FDM printer can do M6 threads or smaller. IMO the additive technology does not really work well in this case. Other types of 3D printing might work best, like SLS. But that's out of the personal printer league. HP has a new commercial 3D printing technology...
