Re: Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) workbench using OpenFOAM

Thanks again Oliver, I'll look into that in the morning and get back to you.

Re: Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) workbench using OpenFOAM

Thanks Oliver, I see that will clarify the magnitude of the reported value so it's very valuable, but not it's value relative to atmospheric pressure. If I have the outlet connected to the inlet of a fan it should be approaching a depression, below atmospheric pressure (1500Pa gauge). I need to obta...

Re: Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) workbench using OpenFOAM

Hi Again, Lessons moving on great now and greater understanding generation questions starting to be required. I have a static/atmospheric pressure interpretation problem following some forum searches. I'm setting an inlet pressure of 0Pa and an exit pressure of -1500Pa, i.e. a negative depression re...

Re: Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) workbench using OpenFOAM

Hi Oliver. Thanks, that solved the problem and I now understand.

Sorry if you were distracted by my last post about pressures, I found an error in my model so deleted it and started again.

Here it is without the mesh, the mesh takes it to 3.8Mb:

Re: Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) workbench using OpenFOAM

Hi again guys. Made fantastic progress since your great help and I have my first complex Boolean Fragment Mesh model. below: 12in Original VXC.PNG 12in Original VXC Boolean Mesh.PNG As I hope I've shown, the complex body has four inlets and one outlet and represents the internal flow region of the d...

Re: Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) workbench using OpenFOAM

Hi Again, I now understand. The model was very large and of course it was taking a long time. It finally finished meshing after 24 hours. I dramatically reduced the size and refined the mesh. it's now meshing in a couple of minutes and all is good. I've again learned a hell of a lot so thanks guys!!...

Re: Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) workbench using OpenFOAM

Thanks Syres, I was wondering if there was something wrong. I'll let it run and see what happens when I start again on my new notebook. Still a lot to learn :)

Cheers

Re: Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) workbench using OpenFOAM

Hey Guys, Just a little fun observation. I've moved on again and gone back to the FreeCad tutorials as the next step in my self training. Started the Multi-Region Mesh and all went fine on my Dell Latitude i5 4GB notebook. ;) I've been expecting to upgrade as I progressed so ordered my Dell G7 i7 16...

Re: Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) workbench using OpenFOAM

Big smile from me Thomas and Oliver!! Seriously, you have both allowed my to know how much I need to learn in order to make the dramatic steps forward that I aim to take. Now I have the roots for the CFD in place I need to concentrate on ParaView so I can put my own CFD models together for a vortex ...
