Re: RE: Removing Object Geometry W/ Multiple Dependancies
Interesting. What you did looks nice. I don't seem to have the "Defeaturing" icon/tool available to me in the Defeaturing WB. Is this something only available in Ver 0.18? What tool I do have is the "Remove In List Face" command (encircled). And it did strip the pegs away; unlike...

Re: RE: Removing Object Geometry W/ Multiple Dependancies
Could you clarify your process for manipulating the copied objects? I attempted the same process with little luck and a lot of uncertainty. I select the extrusions, hit ctrl+c, and say "No" to copying those commands that have a dependency on them. The rationale being that those commands wo...

RE: Removing Object Geometry W/ Multiple Dependancies
OS: Win 7; FreeCad ver:.17 I want to remove the cylindrical projections circled in red. Capture.JPG The quickest way I can think to do it is by creating another object and subtracting the projections flush to the face of the object body. My concern is in feeling like this isn't best practice, that i...

Re: RE: Building/Drawing on Hidden or obscured faces
I'd like to avoid downloading the next ver, for now. I understand being hesitant with a developer version, but this one is far from being unstable. In fact there have been several bugfixes making this 0.18 even more stable than 0.17; it has currently nothing experimental of which I am aware of. And...

Re: RE: Building/Drawing on Hidden or obscured faces
It would be best to use FreeCAD 0.18 and use the Sketcher ViewSection tool. In 0.17 you can hide the other objects completely. If you need external geometry you can use wireframe display mode and you can tilt the view even in sketcher. With my Mouse Model I have to use the ALT key plus mouse rotati...

RE: Building/Drawing on Hidden or obscured faces
OS: Win7 FreeCAD ver: .17 I am trying to create features on the face of a wall, in a channel (highlighted face) and I will be doing the same thing on other hidden faces as well. chl2draw.PNG The problem arises that when I select the face, open the sketcher workbench, select "FlatFace" as a...

Re: Extending a Face
I guess you used the Draft version and not PartDesign. In Draft the grid occurs automatically if you use the default settings. There is an icon to toggle it. In Preferences you can change the settings after having Draft WB loaded. For me it never worked as expected, leaving a grid every now and the...

Re: Extending a Face
Thanks. Done and done. Worked nicely. Except the only thing is that it placed a grid down and I've dug through the "View" and "Data" tab for each layer of commands/objects as well as the Draft workbenches commands and cannot find where or how to shut this off. It seems like this ...

Re: Extending a Face
I am learning to work with Ansys at the same time so sometimes I go looking for commands in the one tool that are actually in the geometry creation tools of the other!

Extending a Face
I have a pretty simple object and I want to extend it's length in the Z direction (thicken the face - the highlighted one). The first thing that comes to mind is just selecting the face and using the Sketcher workbench to trace the face I want to extend, padding it, then using a Boolean Add to the r...
