Re: Storing FreeCAD (CAD) projects
And by the way, I am developping a git based platform at : http://cadracks.org . FCStd files and vendor-neutral files (STEP, IGES, STL, BREP) receive a special treatment in v0.1 as there is a 3D viewer for these files. It will soon do more: https://cadracks.github.io/blog/2019/01/15/The_roadmap Feel...

Re: Storing FreeCAD (CAD) projects
I don't use it right now. I have thought about a version system before. For me the most important reason for not git is it don't know any difference between a release and a version change. Yes, using git would make things a bit different. You can use 'git tag' to tag a specific project version as a...

Re: Collaborative CAD platform
Storing hardware design files on a public web platform raises the issue of licensing. The best explanations I found so far are at https://www.oshwa.org/faq/

Re: Collaborative CAD platform
Thanks. Basically, in its current version, it is a good substitute to GitHub if you have CAD files. You get the same user management (Sign Up at http://cadracks.org/user/sign_up) and project management functionnality at http://cadracks.org but with a viewer for CAD.

Re: Collaborative CAD platform
I have not studied BIMserver etc... What are difference in functions / target audience with this project? Thanks. The target is to create a workflow similar to git/github for CAD. Anyone, anywhere, with any (CAD) tool should be able to contribute to an open car project, to an open boat project ... ...

Re: Collaborative CAD platform
as far as I understand it display the brep of the freecad file, so I guess it is why, on a single file, with a single body, when we are suppose to see only one part, there is also other "part" displayed? A FCStd document can actually contain many brep files. Each time you create a sketch ...
