PS: You want this marked as solved?
Nope, not yet. This isn't solved from my point of view, as it's not clear where this issue comes from and why it pops up, somewhat randomly.

Re: git build failing with libsimage.so

Sorry everyone, I didn't get notified of the responses. Subscribed isn't the same as notify, I know this now. Yes you need to explicitly tick the button on new threads to get notified. Only reason I know that some change in freecad triggered the failure is that I am running 2 machines and the syste...

Re: git build failing with libsimage.so

It should also work with the simage-1.8.0-r1 from ::gentoo. I can't yet reproduce the issue using this version. I yesterday built 1.8.0-r1 without sndfile support and my not yet merged 0.19 branch of the freecad ebuild built just fine.

Re: git build failing with libsimage.so

The simage library is a plugin that is dynamically loaded at runtime. Neither Coin3d nor FreeCAD is supposed to link to it. As it obviously does it's a Gentoo specific problem. Coin3d is configurable to use runtime linking (https://github.com/coin3d/coin/blob/master/CMakeLists.txt#L91) or buildtime...

Re: git build failing with libsimage.so

After a system update I also could not compile the current version and have the same error. I modified the current ebuild to check out the above d89cd.. commit hash and it failed with the same error. So I think it is an Gentoo Linux problem. I also think it's a Gentoo issue, but it's most likely no...

Re: git build failing with libsimage.so

Hi @clytle374, this issue should have been resolved with the revbump of simage.
Would you please post the output of lddtree /usr/lib64/libsimage.so and emerge -pv simage?
TIA

Re: [Linux] Using MPI

It's because MPI is not used when building FreeCAD. Thanks for the answer. On Gentoo, we have an option for building with MPI support, so this isn't needed at all. IIRC, I got the idea, because the internal smesh is looking for an installed MPI implementation if HDF5 and MEDFile is built with MPI s...

[Linux] Using MPI

Hi, I've found no information of using MPI togehter with FreeCAD. Some posts about running with FreeCAD with MPI on Windows let me think, that FreeCAD will use MPI calls internally. So my question is, how does MPI work on Linux, provided that FreeCAD is compiled using an MPI capable compiler, like O...

Re: Freecad 0.19 compile problems on Gentoo (waebbl)

@bookwood: There's no support yet in my ebuild for using either of OpenCascade Community Edition or Official Version, only the Official Version is supported. If you have both installed, the build system will mix them up in the configure phase. It's on my todo list to add a USE flag for selecting whi...

Build issue of 0.18.4 with boost-1.73.0

Hello, today FreeCAD-0.18.4 failed with an error, which looks like it's related to boost-1.73.0 which has lately been released on Gentoo. FAILED: src/Mod/Path/App/CMakeFiles/Path.dir/Area.cpp.o /usr/bin/mpicxx -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -DHAVE_LIMITS_H -DPath_EXPORTS -DQT_CORE_LIB -DQT_NO_DEBUG -DQT_XML_LIB -D...
