It's unlikely that gentoo devs would accept a package with only a live ebuild.
He's a gentoo developer :P
Then he knows that it's unlikely to get accepted ;)

Re: Installation location on gentoo linux

Idea is to readd back freecad (it was removed from main repo when qt4 support was dropped) My plan is to re-add it to the main tree. This doesn't make much sense IMHO as long as 0.18 isn't released. It's unlikely that gentoo devs would accept a package with only a live ebuild. And the release of 0....

Re: libmed (med file / med fichier) python3 bindings on linux

I remember reporting a patch to salome some time ago. But as the external smesh doesn't support libmed yet, I didn't have a look into this library anymore. for version 3.3.1 I used this patch to make the library work with python3. We do not have an external smesh yet in Gentoo. I didn't have the ti...

I would like to package this for Debian.
I want to package it for gentoo, but I wouldn't dare to package an old and unmaintained version 1.6 or so. But if FreeCAD doesn't support the 2.x version yet, a package isn't of much use for FreeCAD and packaging will have a lower priority.

material editor problem

Hello, I'm getting an exception when I select any of the material cards: locations to look for material cards: /usr/share/freecad/data/Mod/Material/StandardMaterial /home/waebbl/.FreeCAD/Material Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/lib64/freecad/Mod/Material/MaterialEditor.py", line 181, i...

Re: [Proposal] List of supported external software

[*] LuxRender is named several times in the wiki, noteably on the Render_project page which states (outdated) version 1.3. Maybe you know already, that at the end of 2017, LuxRender was renamed to LuxCoreRender and they've gone github (https://github.com/LuxCoreRender/LuxCore) and have released ver...

Re: [Proposal] List of supported external software

Started the topic in the wiki (WIP): https://www.freecadweb.org/wiki/Installing#External_software_supported_by_FreeCAD All listed packages from the first post are now in the wiki. I've put direct links to their subsections in that post. Any feedback is welcome! I'm especially not sure, if the FreeC...

Updated https://github.com/luzpaz/FreeCAD-dependencies to track most of the packages mentioned in the first post of this thread
Well done! Thanks for this. Would it make sense to somehow clarify which are build-time dependencies and which are not?

Re: [Proposal] List of supported external software

I've been looking at the libgts/libproj question. On the PPA we don't have libgts as a dependency in the control file, so I'm pretty sure it's not a mandatory build time dependency. We do have libproj-dev in the PPA control file. I don't see anything in the Win Libpacks for either of these. I'm tem...
