Re: Another approach to assembly solver (A2plus)

I wrote this workbench a while back but haven’t used FreeCAD since I finished building my house. You can then open the constraint viewer to see what is broken and perhaps fix them. I hope someone has success with one of these programs. Dan I see that this workbench. "A2plusmore", from the...

Re: A2plus - constraining to origin/datums

NewJoker wrote: Tue Sep 07, 2021 6:20 pm So basically datum planes can't be used to constrain parts and user has to actually model the planes as large rectangular surfaces, right ?
Correct. Origins and plan are not imported with the part when the part is added to the assembly.

Re: A2plus - constraining to origin/datums

is it possible to constrain parts to origin (point, axes and planes) and to datum objects in A2plus ? The only way I found to use planes is to add them to the assembly separately and then attach them to the part or origin. Here are the steps I used. https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=20&a...

I have set the pole object to stationary.
I normaly think of a hinge as three parts. Can you upload your model?
Thanks

Re: Updating a part

byakk0 wrote: Fri Aug 20, 2021 6:28 pm So is there a way to update a part used in one file as a sub-assembly when the main file is altered?
Deleting and remerging is a pain.
Which assembly program are you using? A2plus, assm3 or assm4.

Re: Assembly constraints questions - AP2 workbench.

Is it essential to place constraints in an assembly? In my opinion the constraints are not necessary. The main use of an assembly is that you can create a BOM from the separate part files. A part file (such as a microwave) can contain multiple parts or materials and in the assembly file of a kitche...

Re: [Ticket #4614] Request for a separate Assy file format

Can you elaborate why? I don't see why one workbench would be different to the others. A true part file contains one part which can be assigned a material. An assembly file contains part files which may contain pieces of aluminum and some bolts which it becomes harder to assign an assembly file one...

Re: [Ticket #4614] Request for a separate Assy file format

I think this isnt about being malicious, but its about project management. I believe it is all about project management. If your tool environment demands different file extensions for parts and assemblies, you could simply coin your own. Just name all of your parts "something.part.fcad" a...

Re: Another approach to assembly solver (A2plus)

I wrote this workbench a while back but haven’t used FreeCAD since I finished building my house. I took a fast look at the part if this workbench that should find broken constraints. A2plus has been rewritten since I wrote this. The broken constraint finder is working on the one file I tried it on ...

Re: Another approach to assembly solver (A2plus)

and recomputation works fine. As couple of tests are already implemented to check the selection compatibility with every constraint, I am asking myself if it would be possible to implement such 'modifyer' in the WB? The Flow could be something like: - have the subelement label written in the constr...
