Re: Problem with rotate using placement

Thanks for further comments. This is getting complicated... If I try to add an additional element to the rotated Part it doesn't work - I can snap to a point on the rotated Part but when I hit apply, the new element flies off to some random location. I'm guessing this is also a function of the SyncP...

Re: Problem with rotate using placement

Thanks everyone for your replies, very useful. Whether I use fusion or Std Part, the essence seems to be that you need to apply the rotation to a single entity. I am assuming the rotation applies to the container rather than its contents, so if I take any of the component entities out of the part th...

Problem with rotate using placement

Morning all I'm on a learning curve with Freecad having only used 2D before. Quite steep. Here is my setup: Arch WB on Freecad 0.18 rev 4 running under Win10 64-bit. Could do with some advice on a problem. I would like to rotate my whole (preliminary) model through 180 degrees around Z-axis, so that...

Re: NEMOH

Thanks Thomas. Yes, you need MATLAB or Octave to run NEMOH. As a BEM code it only needs the boundary surface. I guess most meshing tools assume 3D elements. I think I came across some discussions (can't find it now) about using gmsh to create quad meshes. Anyone got any experience of this? Thanks, J...

NEMOH

Hi
I'm new to this forum. Just exploring how FreeCAD could be used for generating meshes for NEMOH BEM code. It needs quadrilateral panels and I can't see how to generate these in the meshing workbench. Maybe not possible, but would appreciate some comments. Thanks
