Re: Parametric G code generator for CNC router- Doors and Cabinets

Wouldn't this be an ideal use for the spreadsheet function?I have experimented with a couple of shapes and after changing the dimensions in the body of the spreadsheet and using the re-compute icon, the toolpaths updated automatically.I admit I was just using basic shapes, but feel confident the princ...

Re: tool data not being stored

I hadn't had a problem with my Linux installation and the 3D surfaces were machined correctly.Since I have tried using the Windows 10 version of Freecad the only problem I have encountered is the inputting of tool data for ball end mills. The actual toolpath generates quite quickly and cuts as it sho...

Re: tool data not being stored

Thanks for taking an interest and making an entirely reasonable suggestion.I have just created another piece and tried to define a different endmill to check the process. In the file named new tool definition I added the values and hit OK and in the file named new tool not defined they all show as ze...

tool data not being stored

I have had problems getting OpenCamLib installed with Linux mint.I found the rather ancient instructions for carrying out the process worked for the first few steps and then suddenly asked me for other things that I don't really know enough about.Since I am now in my sixties and would prefer to be m...

Re: cursor changing from arrow to miniature hand-why?

I had never seen the change of cursor style before and while not a disaster,it was enormously distracting and annoying.Strangely today I installed the same OS from the same usb stick on a different computer and didn't get the same behaviour.

cursor changing from arrow to miniature hand-why?

I have been having a bit of trouble with my longstanding installation of Linux Mint 18.1 so I did a fresh installation of Mint Mate 19.3 and as part of the process I was going to add Freecad from the software centre. When I saw it was still offering Freecad 0.16 I decided to go for a direct download ...

Re: 3D Surface - Face Selection (New feature)

All I have to say is thank you very much for the promising extra capabilities.I have been hoping that surface selection or boundary additions would be coming along and here we are.

Re: Assembly3, A2plus, Assembly4? Get united!

I'm really new with assemblies of any sort in Freecad and I think the concept is really valuable and it has certainly allowed me to create some useful items. The transparency icon in A2plus is a greatly used feature and could I request it's wider adoption, including other workbenches? One thing I have...

Re: Making a solid between two sketches

I would think that you would be able to create the two end shapes and then use the loft function in the Part workbench to create the solid. You should then be able to use the shell function to remove the core and to create the slot I would temporarily hide this part and sketch a suitable outline on a...
