Re: check for bug/awkwardness

I understand the Part is optional. What seems odd/awkward is that in one scenario the Body is placed under the part, and in the other situation it is placed at the same level as the part: Here FreeCAD does create the Body too and places it under Part. No, it does not. It places the Body at the same ...

Check Geometry should be included in Part Design WB?

Having recently learned about Part CheckGeometry , I am wondering if it should also be included in Part Design WB. This old post https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=15269 indicates (#8) "all relevant tools formerly exclusive to the Part workbench are now also available in PartDesign". I...

Re: Sanity check please

Thanks for the explanation and pointer. I wondered about the intersection but thought it was ok since the first X came out ok.

Sanity check please

I'm having trouble understanding why a multitransform or linear pattern complains about "transformed shape does not intersect support" Attached is a .FCStd file exhibiting the error. To see it: Double click TipDepositPlatform_Base to make it the active body. Activate PartDesign WB Click on ProtoSupp...

Re: Sketcher Triangle Constraint issue

"Unsolved" means that your constraints are contradictory. "Redundant" means that one of the constraints can be derived from the others. Really? At other times I've had it tell me constraints were contradictory: "Cannot set the datum because the sketch contains conflicting constraints." "Sketch cont...

Re: Sketcher Triangle Constraint issue

A fully constrained Sketch does not mean that it is unique. It means only that there is no smooth transition to a different solution. I wasn't aware that a fully constrained sketch was not required to be unique. I got to this simple case from an under-constrained condition in which adding the last ...

Sketcher Triangle Constraint issue

I've come across a situation where Sketcher claims a triangle is fully constrained when it is not. This may be related to 0000754 As nearly as I can tell, this is an unreported bug. Can anyone confirm? The attached sketch is reported as having 1 degree of freedom left. If you constrain the distance ...

Re: Help with threading a cylinder

Thank you both. I read the bit about coincident edges causing problems but didn't recognize it as a problem since I was cutting and not fusing.

Help with threading a cylinder

I'm having trouble cutting threads into a cylinder. I am trying to use method #3 in the Thread for Screw tutorial. But the resulting shape doesn't appear to be cut properly. I defined the helix path and the shape to cut, then using part wb did: Select Nozzle object <Ctr>l-Select Sweep object Click "...
