Re: Use of word "Axonometric"

I refrained from suggesting "3D" as the label as it seemed too pedestrian, but thinking about it more I think it would be a better term than anything else. I completely disagree. I use "3D view" to refer to the area where the model is shown. I'm sure I'm not alone. An example of use is in Getting_s...

Re: Navigation menu outside of Manual?

Any consensus on what to do about them or just let them rot and become a rat's nest? Sorry, I realized that I induced you in error. The Mouse Model page does not have the navigation menus I was thinking of. You can find such menu in the Draft_Line page. There are multiple ones depending on the work...

Re: Selection view, search activation?

Didn't realize the (Cube) is an automatically assigned user name; should have. Somehow thought it didn't have a user name until specifically assigned. That's what I thought as well, that the label is derived from the internal name. However, in some languages the label is translated, while the name ...

Re: Selection view, search activation?

Any idea why it finds things with only one letter, the first letter of (some) terms in internal name(s), when it shouldn't be finding any since none have been given user names (U (Unamed), B (Box), E (Edge), C (Cube))? Typing "b" finds the b in Cube, not in Box. Didn't realize the (Cube) is an auto...

Re: Navigation menu outside of Manual?

This navigation menu at the bottom of command pages was the unilateral work of a contributor who quit last month That explains it, anyway. Any consensus on what to do about them or just let them rot and become a rat's nest? I ask only because in adding the nav cube it seemed logical for it to follo...

Manual -- skipping heading levels?

The current first few manual pages skip heading levels, starting at level three instead of level two. Is this intentional, or an oversight or historical artifact which should be corrected? I'm asking because in expanding "The FreeCAD Interface" I end up with four levels of bullets which is crazy; us...

Re: Selection view, search activation?

In python you can define the internal name when the object like a cube is created, but you cannot change it later. You cannot give names to edges, faces or vertices, it is even worse, they can change their internal number when you change only a dimension of the object. That problem is called "topol...

Re: Selection view, search activation?

"Box" is the internal name and in fact you cannot find it via selection view. If you change the label to "Box" you can search for it in selection view. Ahhhhhhh. Thank you. That leads to an additional question: Is it possible to name the internal features of an object? For example, If I create a cu...

Re: Selection view, search activation?

In earlier versions, as soon as you typed letters, the matching objects would be selected. But this clogged a lot on large models, so in 0.18, you have to press Enter to actually select the matching results. Maybe we need to also add a button? Can you explain the behavior you see for the following:...

zero selects axonometric view. I've added it.
Thanks, I should have noticed it was missing because that's probably the view shortcut key I use most often!
