Re: Joining two cylinders at an angle
Thanks all. My cylinders was a simplified example of a more complex object which required changing shapes along the path, which is why I wanted to transition to a datum plane to make drawing the sketches for those shapes easier. The topic question was poorly worded. I appreciate the help and insights.

Re: PartDesign Thickness doesn't cross planes?
My appologies for a poorly worded question which seemed like another attempt at my previous question. I meant it to get clarification on how robust the thickness operation was (thank you @chrisb) rather than get a solution to the pipe join issue.

PartDesign Thickness doesn't cross planes?
Still working on joining two tubes at an angle. I've tried using thickness on the lower section before creating the secondary reference plane, then again on the top section; in this case, I can't see through the secondary plane. I've tried applying it after the compound object is built; in this case...

Re: Joining two cylinders at an angle
Thank you! I got it to work with an additive loft, drawing two elipses and aligning them with the projection of the cutoff tube's top.

Re: Joining two cylinders at an angle
PartDesign_AdditivePipe ? Not sure what you're suggesting. I've used additive pipe numerous times. But what would the profile, and the path, be? If the path follows the top outside outline of the cutoff tube, the profile to meet with concentric circles some distance above z=0 on the reference plane...

Joining two cylinders at an angle
How do I draw two cylinders oriented at different angles and join them? Problem 1: What is the easiest way to create a reference plane whose center is above the origin? I started by slicing the first cylinder at the desired angle based on a simple triangle, then creating a plane based on the top fac...

Re: bug? PartDesign helix does not track some spreadsheet alias changes
You delete the alias name from the Spreadsheet. At that point, what is the helix supposed to do? It would not be absurd, if it behaved like in other cases, e.g. when you delete a cube of which you referenced the length, where the value is kept, and an error is shown in the tree. This is what I was ...

bug? PartDesign helix does not track some spreadsheet alias changes
Not sure if this is intended behavior or not: If I have a PartDesign SubtractiveHelix whose Height parameter is set to the named alias of a spreadsheet cell, and I delete that name as part of rearranging the spreadsheet, the PartDesign SubtractiveHelix changes the Height parameter to the spreadsheet...

@edwilliams16
Thanks, that worked.
I'd still like to understand why the part cut failed with the corrected sweep attached below.
