Re: Cutting a line / Problem

Before applying the tool, is the point-on-line constraint in the center double, i.e. on the x-axis and on the vertical line or only on the x-axis? Sorry for not providing a file. Here it is with double PointOnLine constraints. 1. Create arc, center PointOnLine to X axis 2. Create nonvertical line b...

Re: Cutting a line / Problem

First prease if possible upgrade yout Freecad version at least to the latest stable - 0.18.3. Second you should try to provide your file for examination. There are a number of ways that things can be constrained to visually display the same but which could create different results. And finally Trim ...

Re: Assembly3, A2plus, Assembly4? Get united!

Just my two cents of semicmprehencible thoughts and probably a little rant :) I think that the general public forgets that FreeCAD is not a monolith application to perform a single task but more of a collection of tools to operate on a solid geometric data. Which must be robust, suitable for a lot o...

Re: Use sketch for kinematic

Final Excavator model. To manipulate rotate the PlatformSk sketch and move Slider bodies along their X axis. This was hard just to make a point :) . Screenshot02.JPG . And a video. https://youtu.be/PBUtu6cMVmQ It is easy to break if you are not carefull with constraint values :) OS: Windows 8.1 (6.3...

Re: Use sketch for kinematic

Isn't this similar to the assembly without solver thing ? Assembly4 was not usable in regular builds before the Link Merge and I didn't need actual assembly in my designs so far so did not bother to test it. Now I have it installed from addon manager but did not actually test its capabilities - aga...

Re: Use sketch for kinematic

Added version info to posts with files. Those are created with latest 0.19_pre - after all changes with Link Merge. But the method should work with with older versions that have expressions. Might be that expression format changed after the Link Merge and older versions fail to parse it. I tried lat...

Re: Use sketch for kinematic

Another WIP of an Excavator kinematic: . Screenshot01.JPG . Rotating Sketch rotates the whole assembly. Changing HC1, HC2, HC3 (hydraulic cylinder) constraints in Sketch001 moves the arm. One must pay attention to edge draw direction it it should be used for mapping later. OS: Windows 8.1 (6.3) Word...
