Re: Assembly 4 workbench

I've been thinking about it and conceptually there should not be a dependency cycle. Many users have come with the same question, but this is a yet unsolved problem. You are right that there is no conceptual cyclic dependency in the features , but FreeCAD considers documents in its analysis of depe...

Re: Add ons manager - git history

Would that still allow to detect when a workbench is outdated ? Try changing line 643 of src\Mod\AddonManager\addonmanager_workers.py to: answer = repo.pull('--depth=1') + "\n\n" + translate("AddonsInstaller", "Workbench successfully updated. Please restart FreeCAD to apply the changes.") and line ...

Re: Add ons manager - git history

Wouldn't it make sense for the AddonManager to only pull the current snapshot of the repository ? I recommend more people test this Extension Manager , a new workbench May-be, but if it's only a 1-liner to improve the current AddonManager, then we shouldn't wait for the next big thing: Could also d...

Re: Add ons manager - git history

Hello, currently, using the AddonManager on a workbench, the entire git history - in the .git subdirectory - is pulled from GitHub. For the Assembly4 WB for example, that means that 34Mb are pulled, of which 28Mb are in the .git directory and represent the entire past development history. While the ...

Re: Using Assembly 4 workbench - z axis limit

Hello, I'm staring to use assembly 4 workbench and don't know how to create LCS so z axis is limited by blue bearings height. you can do that by measuring the geometries relative to the central hole, and then attaching the LCS to the central hole and offsetting along the Z-direction by the amount y...

please correct me if I'm wrong!
No, you're right: Assembly4 can only be used with the Gui active.

Re: Pad vs Extrude...

I genuinely had no clue why "Pad" was chosen over extrude. Without any context, it didn't make any sense. I agree with you on this one. As for the aggressive reaction by many, it should tell you the real reason behind it: they very well know that the Part / PartDesign confusion is crap due to some ...

Re: Assembly 4 workbench - Nested variables

This is maybe already known by the Assembly4 programmers but here is a somewhat faulty behavior I noticed Would it not make more sense that the actual variables from the part where given there and that they were also accessible from the assembly itself? Yes, you're right, this is known and is in th...

Re: Exploding with Assembly4

I found if you change the placement and do an Gui.updataGui(), it will update the viewscreen with the parts placement but not do a recompute that would apply expressions. Do a recompute and they will go back to the assembled positions May-be, but when you use the "Transform" tool, it doesn't give y...

Re: Exploding with Assembly4

I eventually found Assembly4's menu item Assembly > Release from Attachment and then manually Transformed the parts away from each other. It works fine for me, but I was curious if there's a better way to do this. Nice find, well done. Currently there is nothing better, but of you look carefully yo...
