Re: Assembly3, A2plus, Assembly4? Get united!

Zolko had already pointed out that this "stability" is not really there until FreeCAD has not final solution of the TopologicalNamingProblem. topological naming is an intrinsic problem for any 3D CAD software, and it stems from the fact that any geometry can be described by many topological constru...

Re: Assembly3, A2plus, Assembly4? Get united!

Hello, Thank-you very much, Fabrice, I've been hoping for such a side-by-side comparison for a long time. I won't defend Assembly4 (yes, it can do sub-assemblies, it was actually designed for that) but I'd abuse your time a little more: could-you also stress-test the assemblies ? Imagine a scenario...

Re: Parts vs. Bodies

After all, no one expects every driver to be a master mechanic, automotive assembler, or automotive engineer. So why should developers, persons with highly specialized skills and knowledge get to suggest that they have or experience the same perspective of interaction as common users? I'm sorry to ...

Re: Discussion: FreeCAD is not ready for 1.0

I'm interested in working on that but would need to clear my plate of some existing responsibilities first. great news. Are you talking about the musescore UI ? Case Study: Musescore (FLOSS cross-platform sheetmusic/scorewriter) UI/UX If I can help in lightening your workload I'd be happy to step i...

Re: Discussion: FreeCAD is not ready for 1.0

Really, the majority of criticism that FreeCAD seems to receive is the "clunky" UI, which is really more a product of its modular workbench design than it is bad UI design. In other words, I really think it's always going to have a clunky feel ... This is just not true. FreeCAD can look very polish...

Re: Assembly 4 workbench

The LCS References have changed. Have i done something wrong? ....or is this a problem because of topological naming? One preferred method is to use a master sketch of the assembly. I think an explanation of best practices on how to use master sketches would be very useful. Would you have time to w...

Re: Assembly 4 workbench

I'm having a lot of fun with Assembly 4, something i'm currently wondering when using it: I've now assembled some items, and need to make make holes in models for the assembled parts to fit in. I'm not quite finding a good way of doing it. For example, i've got an axle positioned via the LCS system...

Re: build v0.19 AppImage with OCC 7.3

thanks, yes, this-one works perfectly, even with my buggy files. So there definitively is an issue with OCC 7.4.0 & FreeCAD. We decided to not provide multiple appimages. So returning to occt7.3 is not an option. I'm sorry, but I fail to see the link between the 2 statements. There was talk some ti...

Re: Bug with OCC 7.4.0

So, this definitively is an OCC 7.4.0 issue, because looo was nice to produce an AppImage with the latest Git master branch and OCC 7.3.0, and that version opens the buggy file without problems. The Part > Check Geometry tool does find errors in the file, but it can still open and display it correct...
