Re: Assembly3 preview

New version released . nice, well done, works with Asm4, and much better: no more opened windows for all linked parts, and LCS have all the same fixed size. Well done, thank-you again. There was a time when it was said that your branch could become the next v0.19, do you know anything about this ? ...

Re: Assembly 4 workbench

I have been playing around with the Assembly 4 workbench using , FreeCAD-asm3-20190202-9a4632f4-4664316.glibc2.17-x86_64.appimage on Arch Linux. hi, and thank-you for your report. There is a new build available for the FreeCAD-asm3 branch, and it irons out some of the previous problems, I suggest y...

Re: Assembly3 preview

So where is the problem with FreeCAD? All it's source is published. You could write a thesis about this subject and still have covered only 1/2 of the problem. If you're interrested in the subject please look-up that the most free of all possible source code is "Public Domain" and yet it's not cons...

FreeCAD is, no question, the best open-source parametric 3D modeler
Isn't it the only one ?

Obviously not.
What do you mean by "obviously" ? What other open-source parametric 3D modeler do you know ? I don't think Blender is one.

Re: Assembly3 preview

Some class teaching assistants claim that CAD products like NX, CATIA and CREO can handle very large assemblies of say 100,000 parts while Solidworks (maybe not Solidworks 2019) and others cannot. Usually unsatisfying answers are given as to why this is so. the problem is not so much the number of ...

Re: name FreeCAD 0.91 instead of 0.20, means version after 0.19 could be 0.91

As far as I remember from discussions with Jürgen the plan to switch to version 1.0 was when the most important issues are solved: it's the topological naming as you said and the assembly workbench. I don't know about Jürgen, but that seems quite logical today. so... how about App::Link ? Is this t...

I do not understand how 1.0 or 2.0 tells me whether i am using a current version not??
you're really a helpless lot: 1.0 is cool, and 2.0 is futuristic. geeez ... didn't you learn anything in engineering school ?

Re: name FreeCAD 0.91 instead of 0.20, means version after 0.19 could be 0.91

a) a real assembly infraestructure I guess you refer to integrated no, I refer to linking, as opposed to copying. Today Werner is the sole software architect of FreeCAD. He and he alone greenlights what is to be merged in the "core" of FreeCAD. Personally I am very comfortable with this because he ...
