Re: Assembly 4 workbench

Please see attached file. asm_tuto1.2-one_file.FCStd Is this how you would recommend organizing the tree if all of the bodies are in one file? Am I correct in assuming that all bodies must be at a Placement of (0,0,0)....and a body has to be a child of a Part container? Nice. Yes, with Assembly4 on...

Re: App::Link: the big merge

Hello,

can we consider the App::Link big merge to be done ?
Can we now post bug-reports and feature requests ?
Is this the good thread or is there a better option ?

Re: Assembly 4 workbench

https://github.com/Zolko-123/FreeCAD_Assembly4/blob/master/TUTORIAL1.md Thank you for this tutorial. Nicely done. Just what I was waiting for. I was able to complete the assembly model per your instructions and actually understood the concepts for the most part. I like your format better than a vid...

Assembly4 tutorial

Hello,

I have put together a step-by-step tutorial on how to use the Assembly4 workbench, with a very simple assembly containing 1 axis and 3 bearings::

Re: [Feature requests] Working points, lines and planes

There was a post with some macros for creating datum geometry outside of PartDesign, alas, I cannot find it. App.ActiveDocument.addObject('PartDesign::CoordinateSystem', 'LCS_name' ) App.ActiveDocument.addObject('PartDesign::Plane', 'Plane_name' ) App.ActiveDocument.addObject('PartDesign::Point', '...

Re: [Feature requests] Working points, lines and planes

If I can think of it, someone probably already did code it. yep, all these things exist already and are called Datum objects. They come with the PartDesign workbench, although they should be the basic building blocks for all FreeCAD designs, and what you want to use is their mapping mode. What you ...

Re: Assembly 4 workbench

New version 0.6.3 out. Big difference: it is now possible to make assemblies with parts all in 1 document. There still can be only 1 Assembly4 Model per file (document), but a doc can now contain many parts and they can be linked to form a Assembly4 assembly in the same file. This is limited to 1-le...

Re: Assembly3, A2plus, Assembly4? Get united!

While reading in Zolko's thread "Assembly Without Solver" ( https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=32843 ), I came across the fact that I may have had a different idea of what "assembly" is: Simply putting stuff together at some mating points, perhaps with degrees of freedom for movement...

Re: Assembly 4 workbench

When i try to insert an existing part I get an error: Traceback (most recent call last): File "C:\Users\davfit\AppData\Roaming\FreeCAD\Mod\Assembly4\insertLinkCmd.py", line 87, in onCreateLink createdLink = self.activeDoc.getObject('Model').newObject( 'App::Link', linkName ) AttributeError: 'NoneTy...

Re: Assembly3, A2plus, Assembly4? Get united!

only linking does only work if an assembly and all it's parts is stored at the same machine. On bigger projects you don`t have this. I don't know how big projects you're talking about, but those quite big I'm working on — thousands of pieces — all parts are located on the local machine, with a remo...
