Re: Contribution for FreeCad Community.

So I want to be helpful. There is someone who could guide me trough this? I could programming, testing, translate, design, reply... Olà Igor, there are 3 ways to contribute code: in the core FreeCAD, which is mostly in C++. For that, you need to first get git working on your computer and compile th...

Re: The science of great UI

There is the bigger FOSS role model Blender which has something similar in the works: the Blender Human Interface Guidelines You note in the last sentence you are enamored with the Blender UI. Yes, it's nice and all. But, my efficacy with Blender dropped dramatically when they released the current ...

Re: Are there plans for making A3 and A4 available for translation?

Imho the problem with translation is not so much that it introduces complex code (it's just wrapping strings in a function call after all), but rather that it feels like adding a lot of ballast all over the place. OK, I understand. Well, let's try. BUT: the animation functionality is in heavy devel...

Re: The science of great UI

I don't think that it's so much about good or bad UI, but in our case it's rather about a consistent UI: that commands and buttons behave in the same way across all various tools. Therefore, it's more a question of decision rather than design. Then, of course, comes the question: how to decide such ...

Re: gmesh running forever..

I have an elongated cube at 0.375" x 0.375" x 1" made in the part workbench. I have an Analytics and a solver-ccx, then select mesh in order to produce a mesh on a solid I have to hit the "Tessalation" button, which brings up a task UI where you can select from different me...

Re: Assembly 4 and Fasteners

It takes me longer to do a single fastener in Assembly 4 than doing all in the Fasteners Workbench. the integration of the fasteners with Asm4 was done for convenience, you can use the true Fasteners WB if you prefer the workflow. Can this be done better? I'm sure it can. But there is a difference ...

thank-you for that, but .... that's a lot of extra code: do we need to add them for each file and command ? Is it really worth the complexity ? The code becomes much less readable.

Re: Are there plans for making A3 and A4 available for translation?

Are there plans for including support of translation via *.ts files? Or you are too busy with core work, but you would accept PR's introducing translation support? There is issue #173 covering this question. If you can take 1 file and propose an implementation to see how it goes would be very nice....

Re: FreeCAD Commands

I've noted by chance, that you could obtain a list of FreeCAD commands, using: listcommands = FreeCADGui.Command.listAll() for cmd in listcommands: if cmd[:3] == "Std": print(cmd) In other word, if a developer , documenter could write something similar to this pseudocode: ... You're right...
