Re: IfcXtreme

Agree that Grasshopper is not cross platform, nor is closed source Rhino, of which it is tied to. Many of us cannot use it. If you do want to pursue cross platform visual programming, perhaps look at Blender and Sverchok? Those are truly open source and open platform. Blender also connects to IFC wi...

Re: Request for IfcProject icon?

Thanks bitacovir! Is it possible to have some symbology that suggests arch / engineering / construction project as well as the box? If you think that it will simply clutter too much, that's OK too. I forgot to mention that apart from the yellow icon, there also needs to be a white icon to be used in...

Re: Request for IfcProject icon?

I'm open to artistic interpretation! However I checked out the noun project and here are 5 results that communicate "project" to me in a construction context: https://thenounproject.com/term/projects/1327109/ https://thenounproject.com/term/project/1281270/ https://thenounproject.com/term/project-fl...

Request for IfcProject icon?

In the arch workbench, there is a new type of object called an IfcProject or IfcProjectLibrary. It allows you to define a "project" for the construction / architecture industry, and is part of the IFC OpenBIM industry standard. A project can contain a building site, which can then contain sub-sites,...

Re: Is there a need for an actual IfcProject / Library element?

WIP update: there seem to be 4 main types of rooted ifc objects: Products (i.e. those with geometric representation - maybe spatial containers can be a sub category of products?), Contexts (projects, libraries), Object Types (FreeCAD doesn't support this currently, but something we should figure out...

Re: Which IFC XSD should FreeCAD support?

Ah yes, for descriptions the IfcDoc file helps, but only a bit - after all, if we want to support IFC4 ADD2 TC1, there is no IfcDoc for it. At this moment the only format that is available for all versions that we can programmatically scrape is the HTML format.

Re: Which IFC XSD should FreeCAD support?

ReD_CoDE, there are a few issues with IfcDoc: 1. The baseline provided by IfcDoc is "IFC4_Add2_20160712" - in other words, the IFC doc file is 3 years old already. That version is not the latest "official" status version, and nor is it the latest ISO publication. That suggests that using the IFC doc...

Re: Is there a need for an actual IfcProject / Library element?

Work in progress PR: https://github.com/FreeCAD/FreeCAD/pull/2259 Right now, I've merely duplicated the function of an IfcSite element, which can contain (er, group?) other things. Here's an example below. It still uses the IfcSite icon for now. I wonder if there is any need to create entities for t...

Which IFC XSD should FreeCAD support?

I recently rebuilt the utility to extract a JSON data structure from IFC XSDs as shown here: https://github.com/yorikvanhavre/BIM_Workbench/pull/26 It's been a while since an extract was run, so I will run it again. But the question is, which version of the XSD should I run it against? (see: https:/...
