Re: Assembly3, A2plus, Assembly4? Get united!

I think Assembly3's "Assembly" constraint is exactly that. It just lacking Zolkos superb rotation-fix dialog (yet). However, Zolko had already pointed out that this "stability" is not really there until FreeCAD has not final solution of the TopologicalNamingProblem. So its a question of knowing you...

For screw attaching, you can try the 'Attachment' plus the constraint multiplication feature.
That works very nicely also with the "Attachment" constraint. This feature can be added to the fun-to-work-with collection :P

Re: Upcoming wiki migration, staging server, and downtime

@kkremitzky, with the wiki migration, is there any chance to include the Mediawiki extension 'MsUpload'? We use it in our intranet wiki and I find it eases the pain to make illustrated contributions very much by allowing to add images by drag & drop. Especially for little images (for icons and butto...

Re: Very annoying mouse modus in CAD Navigation style

I tend to adding this to the Mouse Model description. Do you want to edit it as feature or as info about possible unwanted behaviour? Alternative is to put it in in this sticky https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=30573 only. Maybe its distracting for new users in the help file as it is...

Re: Very annoying mouse modus in CAD Navigation style

Next is the normal sequence to do a rotation: press right mouse button and keep pressed. Then press middle mouse button. release all mouse buttons. To rotate I have to press middle button first keeping it pressed, then press and keep the right mouse button and move the mouse. If I press right mouse...

Re: Assembly3, A2plus, Assembly4? Get united!

Doing this job made me think about a way of doing assemblies that would be a mix between A2+/assembly 3 and assembly 4. Would it be possible to use transformations of local coordinates but thanks to geometries instead of placed LCS? That would avoid the use of a solver and make the thing more robus...

Re: Assembly3 preview

Is there a workaround to utilize "ElementCount" for FastenerWB items or does it make sense to port such a function to Assembly3 as well? Meanwhile, you can change an existing part inside an assembly to a link using the tree view context menu 'Link actions -> Replace with link'. Well, that is not a ...

Re: Assembly3, A2plus, Assembly4? Get united!

Hello, I do not intend to get a response on each point from developers but just give my impressions. They can be used or not, it is up to everyone. Thas really a very good side by side. I am very impressed about how many core key points you have in your list made in a very a short time. Many points...

Re: Assembly3 preview

In a bit larger assemblies I find it a challenge to avoid redundant constraints. As realthunder described earlier the solver is able to take a few redundant constraints but if its too much it will fail. For me it starts to get difficult once I get acrosss 50 elements. At some point the solver would ...
