Re: Discussion: FreeCAD is not ready for 1.0

I guess there is no real disadvantage from moving to 1.x. and if there are some advantages for some people I think we should simple do it. I changed my mind and gave a thumps up here.https://github.com/FreeCAD/FreeCAD/pull/2048 In the end 1.0 is also only a development-cycle with the final goal 1.x....

Re: glider workbench

As many struggled with installing openglider, there is now a (free :D ) appimage available to test the openglider integration in freecad. If wanted I will add the same for osx.

Ah I was wrong, this error is different from the known issue I previously referred to.

Have you already tried to unpack the appimage and run the start-script directly?

Code: Select all

./FreeCAD*.AppImage --appimage-extract
./squashfs-root/AppRun

Re: PythonOCC 7.4.0 beta released

pythonocc7.4 is now available via conda-forge for py3.7 and py3.8. I tested the interface to wrap a pythonocct shape into a FreeCAD shape [1] and this works as expected. I will try to support both projects side by side via conda-forge so 3rd party workbenches can rely on the combination. Hopefully, ...

Re: FreeCAD.appimage not run

I don't see any linux appimage with Py3Qt5 in the name on the downloads page. Py3Qt5 only appears in the Win appimages. Are you sure you have typed the name correctly? We removed PY3QT5 from the 0.19 appimage name. The 0.18 appimage still has this additional naming. Maybe it's possible to run get a...

This is a known issue, but most likely not the issue why the appimage doesn't work in your case. Is there no other information available?

Re: Status of CadQuery Workbench.

There are now 3 different python wrapper libs for occt: pythonocc (swig), pyocct (pybind11) and a new one https://github.com/CadQuery/pywrap . It seems like pythonocc will release a 7.4 release soon. So in theory it should be possible to use cadquery with pythonocc7.4 in freecad. Not sure about the ...

Re: Discussion: FreeCAD is not ready for 1.0

For example, Kunda has been bumping the following thread for years in the hope that somebody can revive that project. So far no progress. I guess you are talking about the gui topic. I don't think we should work on a massive gui change. This should be part of freecad 2.0 or 3.0. There are endless o...

Re: build v0.19 AppImage with OCC 7.3

I'm sorry, but I fail to see the link between the 2 statements. There was talk some time ago about when to release 0.19, and there was talk about feature freeze around december. Until end of december, FreeCAD 0.19-pre shipped with OCC 7.3.0, everything seemed to work fairly well, therefore the logi...

Re: build v0.19 AppImage with OCC 7.3

thanks, yes, this-one works perfectly, even with my buggy files. So there definitively is an issue with OCC 7.4.0 & FreeCAD. As for Python 3.7 or 3.8 ... should FreeCAD really be on the bleeding edge for all components ? Shouldn't we be more conservative and let others find and fix all the bugs ? I...
