Re: Co-ordinates of viewpoint ?

I do understand that, and there's lots of modeling to work out the sun position. But I'm interested in knowing the position of the viewpoint ...

Co-ordinates of viewpoint ?

Hi I've created a simple 3d model of the roof of my house - I'm considering installing PV panels and wanted to get an idea of the number of panels I can fit onto what is an awkward shaped area (I don't really trust the surveyor ...). The awkward bit is that I have a false gable on the roof, and it w...

Re: Draft WB ... Edit nodes on a path object [solved ... kinda ...]

Hi Thanks for your reply. It didn't work out quite like that but you put me on the right path (so to speak ...). If I tried to upgrade the path with the error loop in it, it became a face ( and check geometry showed an error). I again did not see any way of altering the base geometry to solve the pr...

Draft WB ... Edit nodes on a path object

Hi I have imported a .svg file from librecad which contained the 2d outlines of a object. The librecad 2-pomt lines came in a 'Lines' (on the model list), whilst the curved lines came is as 'Path's. For the most part this hasn't been a problem, I can join the lines and paths together and create a fa...

linux 16027 appimage issues

Hi I've been playing about with the latest appimage for linux and have found a couple of FEM issues. I could not find any references to the issues on the github bug page, but thought I would raise them here first. A) FreeCAD_0.18.16027_Conda_Py3Qt5_glibc2.12-x86_64.AppImage does not seem to have the...

Re: FEM Results Menu option

So I think I figured this out .... The appimage that I downloaded on Saturday (16000) does not have the pipeline options in the Results menu item. I just downloaded a new appimage (16027) and now I do have the pipeline options. Unfortunately 16027 does *not* have the calculix binary in the app image...

FEM Results Menu option

Hi I'm using the FreeCAD_0.18.16000.glibc2.17-x86_64.AppImage on ubuntu, and have hit another problem. On my system when I create a results mesh, I can open up the Calculix_static_results object and display the resulting displacements. However I have no control over the colour gradient that is appli...

Re: FEM and multiple forces

Aha ! Thanks very much. I think I have it. As you can see I made the model by boolean addition and subtraction of shapes. When I click on the 'face' to make my constraint I'm clicking on the upper half of the inner surface. That selects only *part* of the inner surface due to the split. Hence as you...
