I thought I reinstalled the default parameters in completlely uninstall FreeCAD.
Actually, no.
Removing the ./freecad folder did the job!
Everything seems to work as it should now.

I tried FreeCad on a Win7 partition and the snaps were ok. The same on ubuntu Lucid with a fresh install of FreCAD. Only a behavior I didn't understand: All the snaps didn't work at once. I did a few manipulations between the snaps, activated the grip which wasn't enabled and then everything was ok....
