Re: Easier / Better Way to Do Fillets?

If you are interested, I have collected some information on elements, constraints, and sketching: https://owncloud.gwdg.de/index.php/s/HS2FD9s49wQs4fI/download I just finished reading this. Some of it I had already figured out by fooling around, but I did learn quite a few things I didn't know. I l...

Re: Easier / Better Way to Do Fillets?

You may need a current 0.19 version Ah.. yes. Mine is 0.18.3 Some more remarks where I was too sloppy last time: - Sketch and Sketch001 seem to be identical. You could either use CarbonCopy or external geometry or even better: pad with two lengths Yeah... that was unintentional. Originally, Sketch ...

Re: Easier / Better Way to Do Fillets?

I have modified your file according to the comments above. You will have to recompute it to get a valid FreeCAD file. I had to minimize it in order to reduce the size. Edit: I was able to reduce the size even further (from 3.1MB to 160K!). You will have to make Body and SubtractivePipe visible and ...

...I have done the filleting in the sketches on occasion, ... On occasion no. It is the recommended way. I always appreciate your guy's help and advice, so I really don't want to make anyone mad here, but just because something is the "recommended" way to do something, doesn't mean that that is alw...

Re: Easier / Better Way to Do Fillets?

...Is there a more efficient way to do fillets in such a way that modifying a sketch won't break them? You are probably experiencing the topological naming problem . In general, fillets, chamfers, and operations like that, that only refine your shape, should be added at the end of the PartDesign Bo...

Easier / Better Way to Do Fillets?

I know to do fillets last and I have been doing that. But changing certain things in a sketch four million steps back quite often breaks the fillets and I have do delete those and redo them. That's not a big deal if your are filleting four lines, but when you have multiple multiple segments to do, t...

Re: How Do I Route an Edge?

OK... I figured it out. Maybe I shouldn't CAD and drink :)

I created a second sketch as a path around the object and did a [Subtractive Pipe] along the second path. Thanks everyone for your help.

Re: How Do I Route an Edge?

the front face woudt be a second sketch mirroring is not the best you can simply draw the 2 shapes on one sketch OK... so there's no simple, one-step process for something like this similar to the [Follow Me] tool in Sketchup? I know people hate that program, but man a lot of things are easier in S...
