Re: Possible to View One Sketch While Working on Another?
Is it possible to view one sketch while working on another? I know that I can hide/unhide the part solid created for a sketch, but in designing a model, I need to be able to see the dimensions of one sketch - for the top half of a model - to properly size the lower half. The only thing I can think ...

Re: Delete faces of imported step geometry
easyw-fc , WOW. I had loaded a more simple part that is the size of a coffee mug. Your tools work wonderfully on this part from a STEP file. I'm not sure if FreeCAD has limitations on the much larger part that I really need to defeature. A former co-worker now at another company can do this in a hig...

Re: Delete faces of imported step geometry
easyw-fc, Is it possible for you to grab my previous CAD STEP file attached to the other posting. Then see if you can defeature the same as the images I had placed in the posting. I'm trying this without have any results. I've tried both the 'parametric refine' and the regular 'refine'. Then add a f...

Re: Delete faces of imported step geometry
Anyone have a solution? I'm struggling trying to understand this DEFEATURING add-on. Anyone using the NEW add-on of DEFEATURING yet ??? It's a major help for making CFD models taking out the tiny faces and tiny blends that would have no effect on the overall results. Saves on meshing time, saves on ...

Re: SpaceBall rotation stops when focus leaves main display panel in v0.18
Oh my. I'll have to try this in 0.18 and see.
Yes, I love my SpaceMouse very much. It's a must-have for any CAD software because it saves the right hand to do more productive work and the left hand with SpaceMouse rotates things smoothly.
Rotating while measuring is a must-have as well.

Re: Delete faces of imported step geometry
Jim, OK, I've attached the Plastic Duct with thin vents. Image-1 shows the bad blend and the 2 blend paths to remove. Image-2 shows the clean up function results in another CAD system. This is just 1 localized area on this part. It's HUGE. I'm talking about defeaturing a few hundred blend paths in j...

Re: Delete faces of imported step geometry
Jim,
Thank you so much for a very quick response!
I had spent a few years on release 0.16 and at the start of the year jumped to 0.17. Very glad to hear about the new capability. Looking forward to giving it a try.

Re: Delete faces of imported step geometry
This may be an old thread, but it's the exact topic I have a need for. Running with: FreeCAD V0.17 Ver 13541 GIT Win64-7 OK, I have a STEP file of a solid model that represents the internal air volume of a plastic duct of 2-meters long. The model needs to be simplified by removing the tiny blends an...
