I don't really get the long-term fear that much. I too prefer FOSS partially to know that I can open/work on old projects I did not touch for x years. At the same time, I have NO issue to know that FreeCAD up to some version will work with some old formats, then there is a change. It is very simple ...

Additive pipe does preview the result, but fail when clicking ok - "recompute failed" does not tell much about why.
