Re: Trying to mill a chamfer surface

I had "3D Pocket", and I am missing plenty of those options including the possibility of setting the final depth. I did not have that option activated in the preferences. Now there seems to be a dropdown menu, also including the "3D Surface", so I guess I need to look it up from ...

Re: Trying to mill a chamfer surface

I don't get it - in your example you can set the final depth and plenty of other stuff: https://i2.paste.pics/d47df8466d8934b1f7689b6e385cb3f1.png https://i2.paste.pics/fdfbe679a6677e4fb38c2ec95dccf1a9.png In my model: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ryb627rbuoc9ash/Alu_Halterung_M8_Fraestisch.FCStd?dl=0 ...

Re: Milling the profile, but with some extra width?

Firstly, couple of rough parameters from cases where I already came into problems. Forgot to mention - I am running version 0.2. Multiplex board 18 mm thick, I wanted to cut the profile with 6 mm endmill. I went down in 2 mm steps. Somewhere there coming close to the final depth, the endmill is not ...

Re: Trying to mill a chamfer surface

Did you do it with 3D Pocket or how? In my case it wants to travel down the screw hole as well. The funny part is that 2 out of four holes it makes 0.2 mm steps comes up to +5 mm and plunges again. This goes through the whole 5 mm of material thickness. On other 2 holes, it goes the chamfer, doing t...

Milling the profile, but with some extra width?

I want to cut out my part with profile, but the problem is that it just makes one groove, which is the width of the endmill. I would prefer to have sort of two goes and add a little bit of width into the groove so that the chips do not get stuck in the groove. It is particularly irrititating if you ...

Trying to mill a chamfer surface

I wanted to sink the heads for countersunk screws on an aluminium and I do not have the right mill at the moment. I just wanted to go down with normal endmill in 0.2 mm steps. I recall that in the previous history it sort of worked with the normal profile operation. Now anything that seems to be wil...

Well it seems that 0.19 beta has some improvements, at the first look it seems that 3D path pocket might just make it...

Re: How do I define path for a narrowing slot/groove?

The thing is - it is not exactly 45°, more like 50°- is there no way to slice it. I mean a 3D printer gets also a reasonable result with 0.2 mm layer height, I figured 0.2 mm steps with Endmill would do the same, for 2 mm I would only need 10 passes?

How do I define path for a narrowing slot/groove?

I am tying to get a path for couple of slots on a part that are narrowing down over the height. I guess the picture explains it all. I can not get the path to co-operate with the reducing surface cross-section over the height. The specimen is some 15 mm high and those slots should be 2 mm deep, so I...

Re: Opposite of a pocket? Stair? What operation?

Yeah, just got started with a small DIY CNC, until now I have been doing 3D printing. Freecad has been coming along nicely in all of it.
