So do you think it was a glitch and everything's OK now ?
I assume so. I will watch what messages I get in the future. But this begs the question: "How to interpret error messages?"

Re: error messages meaning

Better use the 'code' tag to include the traces. It's more readable. Alternatively to pressing F5, you can use the Std Refresh button. ;) I don't see the error in the trace you posted, so has it vanished ? I have to try the code tag. I look I what I posted and I cannot distinguish if from what I se...

Re: error messages meaning

Does the error message appear each time you do a recompute of the whole doc (RMB on the doc title in the treeview -> Select 'Mark to recompute' -> Hit 'F5' key) ? Here is what is in the report window. The F5 key is mapped to my screen brightness. Is there an alternative? OpenGL version is: 3.0 (3.0...

error messages meaning

The general question is How to find out the meaning of a message.
The specific question is what is the meaning of :No extension found of type 'PartGui::ViewProviderAttachExtension'

I think the file is OK.
Thanks.

Re: How to understand and use the Dependency Graph

I have made an attempt to exercise text on a datum plane. It seems to have worked as I had hoped. I made some small mods to the object and to the text and it behaved properly. I need to make more radical changes to see if the robustness continues. The file is attached.

Re: How to understand and use the Dependency Graph

The reason I have been trying to learn datum use is that I imagined that I could create a datum plane coincident with a surface in the model. Then I could attach the text to the datum plane, thereby changes in the text would not cause the issues which I have currently. Is this a false hope? Freecad ...

Re: How to understand and use the Dependency Graph

Here is a model following bejant's proposal. I have summarised the 1mm and 2mm edges. However, for 1mm I needed 2 fillets due to the sloped edge. As additional benefit the size of the file has shrunk to almost 1/5. I looked at your kind revisions of my model. It is indeed simpler. I can change the ...

Re: How to understand and use the Dependency Graph

Datum geometry would not have helped here, because fillets have to be applied to edges. I assumed that datum geometry would have made the design robust, as is claimed, so that the text could be changed. Not that I understand how the fillets caused the text as "etched" (pocket) not to chan...
