Re: Trying to unwrap a surface

I will take a look at what is needed to backport eigen3 to Ubuntu 16.04. If it isn't too bad then I can try to turn on that build flag and hopefully that should take care of things. You don't need to do that for me. Most of the work is done under 18.04, and the macro that Ulrich1a supplied did exac...

Re: Trying to unwrap a surface

Here is my macro as work in progress. It is not perfect. Some faces do overlap in difficult cases. It should unwrap shapes with flat and cylindrical and conical surfaces. But there are more cases than I can ever test. Ulrich THANKS! Worked perfectly! Now I can build the front suspension a-arms for ...

Re: Trying to unwrap a surface

We may be able to add a newer eigen3 to the PPA for 18.04, but I'm not sure. I will think of a way to test this with our Travis-CI support. I only run 16.04 at work. I'm on 18.04 at home (as this is a personal project we'll not discuss why I was posting from work :-) Thanks for the explanation. It'...

This is what I get:

I guess it's not in the daily builds?

Re: Trying to unwrap a surface

A little example, how to unwrap a tube. remarks: - Cylinder-connector has an angle less than 360°, because mesh needs a cut. In this example 355° for better visibility only. - Cylinder's face is extracted by Lattice2 workbench (please see adddon manager), but only to preserve parametrics. - Face is...

I don't think that workbench exists today. At least I can't find any recent reference to it.

Re: Trying to unwrap a surface

OK, I'm trying a different plan of attack but hit another weird problem. I managed to get what the model view says is two wires, but one of them is in two parts and I cannot get any tool or combination of tools to join it into a functional single wire. If I select the two wires in the model view and...

Trying to unwrap a surface

Hi, I'm trying to unwrap two cylinders with the ends cutout to make paper templates so I can cut out the tubes for a suspension a-arm. Searching online gives a macro to install, "Unroll Ruled Surface" I've installed it (and it's full of mixed tabs/spaces which I fixed locally), it doesn't ...
