[ToDo]fix / pull request for polar pattern around datum line

Following the discussion in http://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=6307 I tried making a polar pattern around a datum line in the newly-updated assembly branch. It *almost* worked: during the polar pattern dialog the proper results are displayed, but confirming the dialog throws an error an...

Thanks Werner, that worked.

Jim
I think

Code: Select all

std::string facename = parameter->getFaceName().data();
is more likely to work.

Re: polar pattern around standard axis?

Commit 525cddaaf32e7e1fc2b07e56eada2a92e106aab9 removed the StdDirection field from patterns. It is more general to support any line segment as the pattern transformation, but it looks like a UI to specify standard axes never got implemented.

polar pattern around standard axis?

I'm modeling this engine crankcase: crank1.png I would like to model the cylinder holes as a polar pattern, but I couldn't find a way to set the pattern's axis to be one of the standard axes, so I ended up duplicating the pocket feature and mapping the sketch to each face. Can I do this from e.g., p...

Re: problem with disappearing pads

Tim Just to be clear, PartDesign workbench is originally intended, and designed, to make one single solid. This does not apply to all FreeCAD. Just PartDesign WorkBench. One of the other's might have said that already, I might have missed it. The idea is that the Assembly workbench will (when it ex...

Re: problem with disappearing pads

Fair enough, though not very intuitive. I was trying to create some reference geometry on which to base other sketches and thought it would be easier to eventually cut it away if it was detached from the model. Is there a plan to get datum planes into 0.14, even without the rest of the assembly stuf...

problem with disappearing pads

Hello, I've created a simple sketch, padded it, created another sketch based on a face from the first pad, then padded the second sketch. The second pad seems to be invisible unless it overlaps some geometry from the first pad. I've seen another manifestation of the problem in which creating the sec...

pad bug fix for jriegel/dev-assembly

Hello, Is this the place for pull requests for the assembly branch? I fixed a bug in the pad sketch up to face operation, which would sometimes fail when the face was parallel to the sketch. The fix is here: https://github.com/timoore/FreeCAD_sf_master/commits/tmoore/dev-assembly By way of an introd...
