Re: Helix tool in PartDesign - feature proposal including Pull request

there is a guy over on the Facebook group making something with pitch that changes from start to finish. https://m.facebook.com/groups/416491481766626/permalink/3807843842631356/ he's done it in three sections, but I think he really wants variable from start to finish. I suggested he have a look at ...

Re: Create sketch / no active body

but you can create a sketch with no attachment for use in Part workbench. also, I assume when you say plane you mean you've selected a face of some feature in a body. which is not recommended because of the topological naming problem. in Part Design you should always be selecting which base plane th...

Re: Assembly 4 simple mortise and tenon joint

Thanks for the help and advice. I managed to figure it out and have completed my design! Would attach pictures or the files if I could figure out how to do that  So stoked I got it to work :D Look below the text entry screen when you are typing a reply. There are two tabs Options and Attachmen...

Re: Curves/Surfaces workbench and surface/solid fails geometry check

This how I usually close a Gordon surface, by adding ruled surfaces. I'll look at that...another method to learn. :) The solid in the attached file passes BOP check. Yes, that is the result of using the face created by the Split. The Surface is the result of one of the two methods I describe as cre...

Re: Missing info about Part's new "Make face from wires feature"

This one is parametric, while Shape builder isn't. So, when one draws wires in Draft WB and the Make Face parameter is set to true, is this the same? I created a triangle in Draft, closed it and it produced the wire with a face. Set the parameter to false. Went to Part, Make face from wire and got ...

Re: Newb Question re 2d drawings..

I have attached the FreeCAD file I created with the dxf file you posted. I did a couple settings in the Preferences for DXF import. I set it to use legacy importer and ticked the Join geometry checkbox. I then imported the file. It contained a bunch of geometry. I selected the geometry for the outer...

Re: Topological naming problem...will force me to stop using FreeCAD?!

unfortunately those techniques dont work for things like Path, Sheetmetal, and TechDraw since they inherently use generated geometry. those techniques should still be used to avoid the model breaking though.

the option at this point is is to use the realthunder branch.
