Re: Feature request: Remove Torus from Part workbenchs Solids toolbar
The toolbar rework makes sense. I rarely use primitives in Part or Part Design. But, those who do have definite use cases. And, some of the use cases mentioned so far are very legitimate. In Part, they probably don't need to be on a main toolbar and duplicated in the "Create primitives" to...

Re: External geometry (or alternative) best practices?
Thanks for the info! @drmacro - I tried referencing the edge of the original sketch rather than the generated feature (pad), but the same problem still occurs. When I modify the first sketch, it seems that the edges are renamed, and the external geometry breaks. @chrisb - Good to know about the mas...

Re: External geometry (or alternative) best practices?
The point that should be the take away form the wiki is that attaching anything to generated geometry make the model prone to TNP. If you attach a Datum plane to generated geometry it provides no relief. Sketches have all the capabilities for location as a Datum plane. So, using a Datum as support f...

Re: May I ask how to project the side of the column pedestal to the XY plane
Using "Attachments" Tab in the post editing mode you could attach images and files to a post. Kind regards Carlo D. Thank you, I have already uploaded the screenshot. It is obvious that a projection is incorrect. Can Freecad have the function of projecting a surface onto a plane, or does ...

Re: Chamfer fillet to a shared edge?
That is correct. Fillet and chamfer can not consume adjacent edges or faces.

Re: a2plus vs Assembly4
Hi, a2plus vs Assembly4, Which one is better? Any advise in using this tools? Which one do you recommend? Thank you! You may want to wait a bit or get the 0.22 development version which has the integrated assembly workbench. It is new and will only continue to mature. On the FreeCAD download web pa...

Re: Best way to center objects
Dr Marco thanks for the valuable comments. I definitely agree that "The tutorials are, typically, long on the "do this...", but short on the why". Perhaps it is my way of learning but I want to know the fundamentals first before diving into the "design of the Space Shuttle&...

Re: Chamfer fillet to a shared edge?
Hello, I just started to learn Freecad and I was wondering if in a future Freecad releases the program will be able to chamfer or fillet to a shared edge? There is a huge complaint list on a forum about the freecad features and one complaint is about chamfering (nr. 69). Blender can easily do that ...

Re: Best way to center objects
It is definitely good to think things through and organize before charging off to create a model. Often I consider how to approach the model, then after doing a bit, I realize, a different approach will be easier or more robust. Sometimes it is best to fix the earlier things before going too far. Th...
