Re: Assembly 4 workbench-processing afterwards

I have been enjoying using Assembly 4 in building various objects. I have also learned that Assembly 4 should be used carefully if one wants to do further work on results of the build. The general comments are that one should not do post processing after assembly. A useful post assembly action is to...

Re: Assembly4 tutorial

Since the mapping mode of both LCS is Translate only translation part of the mapping is transferred to the object. Thank you for the reply. I did refer to "Edit Datum" when I should have said "Placement Dialog". I was not aware that the mapping "Translate origin" only allowed translations and not r...

Re: Follow on rotations: Does it exist in FC or not?

Thank you for posting this link to the video. Just what a beginner needs, up until the demonstration of the mating of two objects. This seems quite advanced for me, a beginner. Fortunately I have been playing with Assembly 4 and I was able to tell myself, "I could do this more simply and more direct...

Re: Follow on rotations: Does it exist in FC or not?

Thanks for the reply. I have tried that feature but have not convinced myself that this is the equivalent of what I want. I will try again. Ah. My most recent efforts have been applied to orienting an LCS and the Edit Datum dialog does not have that feature. I will broaden my understanding of the Pl...

Re: Can't export in STL format with assembly 4

I have a small project in Asm4 and was able to export to STL. My asm has no moving parts.

Turn each assembled Part into a Solid via Part WB. Fuse the Parts via Part Union. Export the Fusion as STL.

Re: Assembly4 notes/questions

I have been working with FreeCAD for about three months (my first plunge into 3d design) and find it fascinating and wonderful. I became frustrated when I attempted to combine objects into an assembly. I dabbled with A2Plus and looked at Assembly 3 and then found the most interesting discussion abou...

Re: WB Part:Split:Slice Apart: limitation and workaround

To chrisb: I did try CheckGeometry with BOPCheck but gave up after an hour or so. Same for Africa. The test takes too long and slows the computer for too long, even in single thread. To kisolre Thank you for the correct term "seam". The pole (the north pole for my data) lies outside the contour. The...
