Re: FC Gear module

Thanks for that. I have managed to edit a gear within a Body using the Sketcher module and the Part module. If I attempt to edit it further using the Part Design module, I get problems, but I can live with that.

Re: FC Gear module

My problem has not gone away. I have updated the gears module and have tried to copy Looo's bevel gear example but cannot get a revolved sketch to cut into the gear. The software keeps telling me that the gear is not a part and insists on creating a new body for the sketch. Can someone please set ou...

Re: Doxford engine model

Yes, it is a 2-stoke engine. Static cylinder with scavenge ports at the bottom and exhaust ports at the top. To demonstrate my problem I have stripped off the engine parts to leave the 3 sketches that control the motion. With Zolko's help I have managed to get LCS_crank to rotate correctly. This was...

FC Gear module

I am having trouble with the gear generator in FC. After creating the gear in the gear module, I cannot get it to be part of the FC body to be able to modify the shape (e.g. put a chamfer on it). I have tried to emulate the example from looooo in https://github.com/looooo/FCGear/blob/master/examples...

p.s. for developers - It would make life much easier if the software did not change the orientation of moving parts when not rotating in the XY plane.
Use FreeCAD 0.19.
I am using FC 0.19.

Doxford engine model

Just for fun! My first attempt with FC A simplified animation of one unit (cylinder) of a Doxford marine propulsion engine. The engine is a large 2-stroke opposed piston cross-head diesel engine, about 800mm bore. The centre crank operates the main piston which open the scavenge ports at the bottom ...

Re: Assembly4 Part attachment

****** Hang fire on that last post *****
Problem solved - I drew the big end of conrods 2 & 3 in the wrong orientation. Re-drew it in the correct orientation and all works.
Sorry if I have wasted time.

Assembly4 Part attachment

I have created a base - crankshaft - conrod assembly with 3 conrods - one in the Sketch_master plane and the other two offset along the rotation axis. The conrods are each an assembly. I have created a Sketch_master for the central conrod and two other offset sketches for the other conrods, complete...

Re: Assembly4 Master sketch

So try the reverse order : attach LCS_crank to LCS_Origin, in its AttachmentOffset set the rotation angle around the X axis to Angle_crank. That worked. So far so good. I could not get the Datum point etc. to work. I lost count of the number of permutations I tried! However, creating LCS_arm in the...

Assembly4 Master sketch

Assembly4 Master sketch problem: I have created a very simple model of an engine crankshaft - no parts or bodies yet - just an Assembly4 model with variables and a master sketch with one line from the origin to a point 23 mm radius on the YZ plane, 30 deg acw from the Y axis. The crankshaft rotates ...
