Re: [Feature request] (Sketcher Constraints) A single Dimension tool for all types

Hi has anyone been working on a feature to just have a single dimension tool for the most common ones Horizontal, Vertical, Diagonal, Circular and Angles? If not would it be difficult to implement? For starters, why are you talking about dimensions ? Once I opened your topic it became apparent that...

Re: request: detect and show where in the sketch constraints are missing

I remember that @Abdullah said that it was possible but it requested more from the solver (becomes slower). And that it was not high on his priority list. You are a good listener. Apart from requiring major work, there is the issue of the QR sparse vs dense factorisation, which involves a runtime p...

Re: request: detect and show where in the sketch constraints are missing

An element that is not constraint is white. If it is a line then if only the direction is known the line is green, the endpoints red. for each point if the position of then point is fully constraint that point is green else red. This means that during sketching and later on constraining you can imm...

Re: Problem with constraints based sketcher

(tag = "flipping" or "jumping" or "solver can tell right from left") I think creating a tag or 2 would be enough, no? Sure. That is what I meant (well probably it was on my mind only ;) ) I wouldn't create a new category, but we may add links to one of the existing tickets, e.g. issue #4279. They a...

Re: Problem with constraints based sketcher

Although this is not the solution you wanted or expected, it is still technically a valid soliution. This issue shows up using the DogLeg and the BFGS solvers but not the LevenbergMarquardt solver. Abdullah might be interested in this file for solver testing. I have sent him a message to find out. ...

Re: How many man hours would FreeCAD need to reach feature parity with SolidWorks/SolidEdge?

I'm a startup CEO and we need CAD for our part and assembly designs. I'm a Linux and FOSS fanatic, but in its current state, FreeCAD is insufficient for our needs. I've bitten the bullet and decided to have our server Linux based, and our clients Windows based. I would really like to go back to a f...

Re: Gear WB: Backslash resulting in bad profile

The detail is that I used a backlash value in microns and turned it backlash in reverse. Yes, thanks, I realised this worked. My issue was rather this: Looking at the formula I guess we somehow changed to angular backlash but kept the property-type (length). You should be able to get the correct am...

Re: Gear WB: Backslash resulting in bad profile

As a follow up. It is not true that I cannot set the backlash parameter. I cannot set 0.1 mm, but I can set 0.01 mm. However, I am not sure if the backlash is properly calculated, it looks to me more than 10 um when I put 10 um. Maybe it is that I just do not understand it well. Anyone with a sound ...
