Re: Julia

A short note to the topic... So over the last two months, since I have first made a post on DifferentialEquations.jl and DiffEqFlux.jl (https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=40775) I have been slowly reviewing more and more in to Julia and related topics. In the beginning the idea was tha...

Julia

The Julia Programming Language https://julialang.org/ Julia was designed from the beginning for high performance. Julia programs compile to efficient native code for multiple platforms via LLVM. Julia is provided under the MIT license, free for everyone to use. All source code is publicly viewable o...

Re: Wiring diagram / striped multiple colored lines.

Would be nice to have support for such things in FreeCAD, specially if it would be also directly connected to the 3d model, for now I guess it is possible to do it but with a lot of manual effort... For an FOSS solution, see if https://qelectrotech.org/ can give you what you need.

Re: About funding and all that

Whenever you make your points, you make them in such a way that it seems you have the "right" solution. I do sometimes wonder how it would be if for just one month I could sit down and work with a good developer... How can you say this, when it's obvious that FreeCAD has ever more features than bef...

Re: [Feature request] Move versus edit objects

One of the key features of a CAD program is that there is more than one way to achieve a result (a 3D model). I fully agree and have always supported this, the difference is that some believe they can realize this by having a very open development, letting the evolution take its path, reinvent the ...

Re: [Feature request] Sketcher placement and its axis visualisation

Find attached the file for the PartDesign version. Yes, this has been discussed and shown that it can work also in the topic I linked above and this works for any sketch, regardless in what WB you work and it actually works for any object that has the attachment property... But this result to attac...

Re: [Feature request] Sketcher placement and its axis visualisation

:D This is again something that I was thinking about recently... It was actually from this discussion https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=33360&start=90 ... To make the long talk short, my conclusion from it and so the suggestion would be to extend the current attachment options from c...

Re: [Feature request] Move versus edit objects

This is something that is also on my mind now for some time, so I understand your suggestion, but I think you are attacking to solve it from a wrong direction... IMO this has deeper logic in to ordered and un-ordered tree structure; feature based vs direct modeling and implicit (associative) vs expl...

Re: About funding and all that

The amount of code brought by realthunder into FreeCAD core for v0.19 is going to be huge... He is a fast coder yes, but he does not understand how fully parametric CAD systems work and personally I am still of the opinion that it would have been better if the big Link merge would not have been don...

Re: Implementation of LibreDWG in FreeCAD

Everything would be much easier if they would change from the GPL to an LGPL License... I have talked about this already with Reini Urban, he said that this is up to fsf.org, I understand and support that some projects go for the more restrictive GPL, but in such cases like this a more permissive LG...
