Re: FEm with Contact Constrain
.... But I think the problem is not that I'm doing it fundamentally wrong, but that this whole business seems to be so unstable that even small changes cause big differences (make the mesh finer and suddenly it doesn't converge anymore). I guess to really use that, I have to dig into FEM more deepl...

Re: FEm with Contact Constrain
Thinking well; this problem wasn’t even supposed to be that difficult. If the objective is to calculate the deformation of a flat spring when subjected to a vertical force and perpendicular to the plane of the spring in an area comprised by a circumference of radius 18 mm; just draw an area of rad...

Re: FEm with Contact Constrain
I understand ... Watch this tutorial, I think it's in German (as I speak Portuguese, I'm never sure). He talks about elasticity, contact, mesh control. Many of the issues involved in your problem. https://youtu.be/T-ggqH3tXHs This other tutorial, also in German, talks more specifically about contact...

Re: FEm with Contact Constrain
Hi and thanks for the help. Sorry for the late answer, I've been on vacation for a few days. .... @EduBambu: I tried your instruction in my model, but no success. Then I opened your model and recreated the mesh, but still no convergence. Can you put your full model including mesh and the inp files ...

Re: FEm with Contact Constrain
Good night! I think the problem is really the mesh! I built your model with the same measurements, and created a mesh using Netgen (shipped on FreeCad 19), I used the normal program specifications, I only used a maximum size of 100. Contact01.png I also used a different material for both parts; PLA ...

Re: How to cut the tips off gear teeth?
How did you design that datasheet? Is there a particular book or reference? Yes, I used the publication; https://qtcgears.com/tools/catalogs/PDF_Q420/Tech.pdf table 8-3 on page 35. The parameters are illustrated in Fig. 8-5 on page 32. This publication is the same that is indicated as a reference i...

I recommend looking for these two topics: https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=12878&start=40#p429246 https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?t=27424#p220336 I also recommend starting with spur gears, leave the helical teeth for when you master the process. I think you want so...

Re: Bevel gear - module/script/tutorial
Good Morning! I searched the forum archives on bevel gears ("serch the forum": bevel gear [enter]) and found a very busy history since 2015, but it has had less comments in recent years. I got some good results using FCGear and making a data sheet before starting the design. Par_conico03.p...

Re: Gear WB: Backlash resulting in bad profile
Checking the result of the analysis of the gear clearance by FEM. It was also convenient to modify the 10-tooth pinion profile, but without changing the backlash, that is, without inserting any "shift" value. In this case, the undercut option was chosen. Although it does not affect the cle...
