Re: FreeCAD as pre-post processor for MBDyn

Isn't the model overconstrained ? If so, the solver can't handle it. You have to change some joint or add regularization joint (I don't know who they work)

I agree with you, the key problem may be rounding+tolerances. Have you played with the "initial position stiffness" variable of mbdyn?
No I didn't.

Can you share the input files of the V2 engine (the handmade one and the one created woth your workbench ?)

Re: FreeCAD as pre-post processor for MBDyn

For the rounding of the numbers, i developped a tab in the preferences gui of the mbdyn workbench developped by Matt and myself that allow the user to defined the format of the numbers (exponential, floating + number of decimals) I also spotted the same behavior on some simple simulation I did. It i...

Re: FreeCAD as pre-post processor for MBDyn

Hello Jose, From the mbdyn documentation, the direction of the in line is given by the direction 3 of the orientation matrix. (Sextion 8.12.25) And the orientation matrix can be defined as Dir1,x,y,z,dir2, guess In this case dir1 should be 3 And x=xp1-xp2, y=yp1-yp2, z=zp1-zp2 And dir2 could be 1 or 2

Re: FreeCAD as pre-post processor for MBDyn

If I am not mistaking, the python you install on windows is not the python used in freecad. Freecad comes with his own python (you can find it in the executable directory of the frrecad installation path). So I presume you will have to install the module using the windows terminal: cd path/to/the/pa...

Re: FreeCAD as pre-post processor for MBDyn

Hello josegegas, For the python command used to run the mbdyn executable, you can find it in https://github.com/mfasano727/MBDynFCwb/blob/asm4/MBDyn_guitools/External_Ui/MBDynFreeCAD.py . Check the "runSimulation" function: args= [solver_path, full_file_name] cwd = working_directory m_log_file = os....

Re: FreeCAD as pre-post processor for MBDyn

Thanks for your feedback. The warning appears when we add the mbdyn logo to the preferences tab. Actually, I don't know the source of the problem, but as it has no impact on the workbench itself, it is not the top priority.

Re: FreeCAD as pre-post processor for MBDyn

Hello, you can find the documation here: https://www.mbdyn.org/userfiles/documents/mbdyn-input-1.7.3.pdf or directly download it from https://www.mbdyn.org/?Software_Download . As shown on the documentation, the keyword " offset " exists. The InLine joint works as follow: The node N2' (moved from N2...

Re: FreeCAD as pre-post processor for MBDyn

Hello Hai Li, Thanks for your feedback. From what I understand of your problem, it occurs when you try to open the log file view log button (line 153 of the python scrit) not when you pressed the run simulation button . Actually the log file can't be open directly in freecad. So you have to define a...

Re: FreeCAD as pre-post processor for MBDyn

Hi everyone, You have now the possibility to run mbdyn directly in Freecad. Note: - Windows + binary: test - Windowes + windows subsystem for linux: does not work ATM - Linux: to be tested - Mac: to be tested To run an analysis you have to follow the next steps: - (To Be done Once) Setup the solver:...
