Re: [Solved] Macro "Jump to FC Wiki"

Sounds great. I’m happy to help when it makes sense. The wiki is probably a logical first step as I’m not a coder and barely a user. If nothing else I can discover something is not clear or missing from wiki pages where a more experienced user would “know it already”.

Re: [Solved] Macro "Jump to FC Wiki"

Just came across this thread - this looks like a great addition, and the minimal number of clicks is fantastic. I have been struggling with FreeCad for almost a year off and on, and while I am making progress, I often circle back and start digging through the wiki as it's constantly being updated an...

Freecad and a tiny practical 3d print

Not much of a project but FreeCad was involved so figured I'd post it up. I have a towel warmer that's getting installed in a bathroom and has to be mounted precisely due to a hard wired electrical feed and 4 square tubes that go over mounting blocks that are fastened to the wall. The electrical is ...

Re: What options exist for reorganizing objects in the tree ?

I imported some large step models and the first thing I did was to set globally random colors to the file, this at least gave me some idea of where the object dividing lines were located. For sure you need "Sync selection" enabled. This will hightlight tree parts for 3D selections. I neve...

Re: What options exist for reorganizing objects in the tree ?

There is the search function in the tree and the selection pane (I think it has a search function as well). And, there is a macro for hiding things in the tree. I've not tried it, but I think it will find, in the tree, an object selected in the 3D view (and some toggle capabilities). There was a ra...

Re: What options exist for reorganizing objects in the tree ?

... One thing I have noticed - when you create a new group - it flings the group to the outermost level of the tree.... At least at this point, a Group is a top level container. I don't know if the PR you refer to will effect that. TBH I didn't check the extent of the PR. 8-) I seem to be plodding ...

Re: What options exist for reorganizing objects in the tree ?

Back again after using the groups for a bit. They will certainly help matters with the large step model I am trying to clean up and reorganize. One thing I have noticed - when you create a new group - it flings the group to the outermost level of the tree. I tried to make a part container active in ...

There is currently a PR to add ability to move objects up and down in the tree.
Ok - thanks !
