Re: Let's talk about fixtures.

Oh... That's what I wanted to add. (returning to a machine setup in FreeCAD) Different controllers has different working offsets and even different manufacturers models can have different sets. Compare LinuxCNC and Fanuc and Siemens controllers, Mazak, etc. There are so many different G5* commands.....

Re: Let's talk about fixtures.

Nice review and a huge area for discussion. It's nice to have automated fixture managing, that thinks for you, but I'm affraid, that it almost useless in this manner in real life. It is to rigid, uncontrollable and not easy to see what is happening. How can I control order of what operation must be ...

Re: Plasma workflow

My point is that Path supports start points. As of now, you have to key in the coordinates but this is just a UI issue. We could add a point picker to make it easier. We had this at one time using the draft snap tool but it was deactivated during the refactor. Please add a feature request. I can ad...

Re: Plasma workflow

Contour, Face Profile, and Edge Profile, all have a start point property. Are you saying this doesn't work correctly? Sorry, Can I choose a point and set it as starting point? How? Or I can only manually input coordinate? I need an easy way to point the start on contour. And I need a starting point...

Re: Plasma workflow

I have some experience in using FreeCAD for plasma. If you remember, here we discussed a little bit. My machine does not need to set parameters in program, only speed, so it was easy to adapt postprocessor for my needs, I needed only to cut open contours. But even then I had some inconvenience: I ca...

Oh, that's the point, sorry, misunderstood. In that case, yes, I think linuxcnc postprocessor must follow linuxcnc reference. Sorry to bother you. I was stuck on idea of using G53 at all.

Re: Tool change modal parameter?

I think the problem is similar to mine. When you call a T command, ATC should take tool from magazine to the hand, and with M6 make a tool change in spindel. So, if you call T command second time, it will cause an error, bacause tool is not in magazine. And if I call M6 second time, it will change t...

Re: moves in machine coordinate system (G53) in linuxcnc

I use it sometimes to move the head out of the way, regardless of current coordinate system/fixture, tool compensation and so on. Hm, it's a very specific use case. It might be specific for every machine, I don't think it's a good idea to add this for everyone. By the way, how would you use it in F...

Re: moves in machine coordinate system (G53) in linuxcnc

G53 is very specific coordinate system. On some controllers you can't even call it in regular program. Can someone tell me, why you use it? How it is used in LinuxCNC?
