Re: FreeCAD CalculiX Fails to write .frd file

A follow up question: is it possible to load a .frd file created externally into FreeCAD for post processing? Yes, it should work in the same way as if it is loaded automatically. Just drag and drop .frd file. Error message looks similar to this thread https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=1...

Re: How to distribute CPU intensive operations?

In general, first, I would recommend to use appropriate approach: if possible use model symmetry, appropriate element type (1d, 2d, 3d) and mesh size or even use hand calculations instead of FEA, ... All this should correspond with output (precision) you require. Is there a way to distribute those o...

Re: [SOLVED] FEM output does not seem to be correct (beginner question)

... Moreover I couldn't notice any difference between "Von Mises Stress" and "Max Shear Stress" by the naked eyes... "Von Mises Stress" and "Max Shear Stress" are two approaches to answer same question: how to get equivalent stress (one simple number instead of normal and shear stresses in all dire...

Re: displacement frequency is exploded

Still i don't understand where the extremly high "displacement" values of frequency analysis come from... The theory behind frequency analysis gives only the shape and frequency, not information about amplitude, so displacements you see are not real. Calculix gives output which is somehow normalize...

Re: displacement frequency is exploded

Forum search gives a related discussion here https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?t=34048&start=10 There is the python code for scaling <1 https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?t=34048&start=10#p289519 So a way around could be to use Pipeline/Warp filter to display deformed shape with arb...

Re: Topology optimization

from beso_conf import * does not work due to touching existing dicts but os.chdir can be avoided when using commited change https://github.com/fandaL/beso/commit/aea7b231ab1d99cb1f766f3003fc900df4d9d7d1 beso_dir = os.path.dirname(__file__) exec(open(os.path.join(beso_dir, "beso_conf.py")).read()) I...

Re: Topology optimization

Thanks for the comments. What I want to do (hopefully within two weeks) is to make a simple GUI which would write beso_conf.py with parameters for very basic task so that user would not need to touch the code. By now, for more advanced use (or more experimental since whole implementation is quite ex...

Re: mesh region

I tried it, but seems different from what I want to do. Let's say [*] I create a cube [*] In FEM, create analysis, mesh with gmsh [*] Mesh Group, I create two groups [*] Select everything, export to /tmp/Mesh.inp Opening in Calculix it doesn't find the Mesh groups. Check your “Edit -> Preferences -...

Re: Von Mises Stress way too high

How is this possible. The Material is PLA, I am 44.48N of Area force. Why am I getting this really small piece of PLA can hold against 24946.5 Lb per square inch. Thats a nope for me. So what did I do wrong. For more precise results it would be better to use finer mesh. Linear static analysis (by d...

Re: Topology optimization

Sorry, I did a mistake. See the EDIT (point 1b ) in the previous post which should fix it for now (even it is not professional). It happened since I typically copy the python code to the working directory (keeping its version with ccx inputs) and start the analysis from Ipython console with cd d:\tm...
