Re: Issue with CalculiX

Hi, Try to open it with the latest cgx. I have downloaded Launcher CL34-win64 from https://sourceforge.net/projects/calculixforwin/ and when opening I can chose different cgx versions: 2.5 fails, 2.10 even brakes frd file, 2.16 works well. I suppose that this is due to binary format used in the frd ...

Re: Modelling and analyzing parts with composites ?

On a related note, does FreeCAD have an "unfolder" whereby the user can click on a surface and FreeCAD will create a 2D pattern for pliable material that would cover the surface ? This would be another great tool for composites... I think not on simple click. But there were some trials about unfold...

Re: gmsh does not mesh a half cylinder as I would expect it

I have no problems with the file. Recreated mesh is uniform. How can I find out the ccx version?
When you click to run CalculiX from FreeCAD, there is a log window which contains version information.

Re: Question about beam calculation with calculix

Yes, if the beam is loaded in bending.
But if you change element type e.g. to truss T3D3 which does not transfer bending moments, I would expect stresses to be correct. (it will behave like a cable)

In 2D elements analogous situation is for membrane elements.

Re: Question about beam calculation with calculix

Deformation: 0.37mm Stress 3d: ~6.3MPa (theory: 6.4MPa) Stress 2d: ~0.73MPa FreeCAD reads nodal values of stress and displacement. CalculiX expands 1D and 2D elements to make analysis with 3D elements. If 2D output is requested, ccx interpolates values from 3D elements back to original 1D or 2D mes...

It will be not awful, if I can change order in tree. If I wand add new region, I should delete many count of regions before and add ones again after.
Partial help is to drug MeshRegion object and drop it to the parent mesh object, so that it is inserted as a last child.

Re: STL (Mesh) voxelization to Array

Seems that on Github there is many codes doing something related with voxeliyation https://github.com/search?q=voxelize By limiting to python you could find something easy to use.

Re: Topology optimization

It is written in python and uses libraries which are available in FreeCAD, CalculiX path is taken from path defined in FreeCAD FEM settings so it should work on both Linux and Windows fluently. I did not try it on MAC. You need FreeCAD 0.18 or 0.19.

Re: Topology optimization

Is it possible to convert the optimized FEM mesh into a solid infill? I can only get a hollow mesh after exporting it as a .stl and then importing it into the PART module. You can select the mesh and use command from Part workbench: Part → Create shape from mesh… It works on geometric meshes (e.g. ...
