Re: Topology optimization

Is it possible to put an iteration limit and/or a button to cancel the optimization process? To enforce finishing, you can terminate CalculiX process in the Task Manager so that optimization should give the error due to missing CaluliX results. Maybe later I will add a button to do something like t...

Re: Topology optimization

In the log file I have the error: CalculiX result file not found, check your inputs. I suppose that you checked original inp file by running CalucliX from FreeCAD and checked that results are correct. In the working directory there should be „file000.inp“ which is rewritten inp file from the origin...

Re: strange result from the constraint transformation

As regards model settings I don't see any mistake. Enlarging holes in the deformed view (especially when scaled) are due to way of displaying deformation. Transformation to constrain radial displacement around holes created local cylindrical coordinate system. However, by default *.frd file (output ...

Re: CalculiX contact surfaces

I need to solve a contact problem having slightly more complicated geometry than in this problem, but is essentially quite similar. Here I have made a corner out of three fixed blocks. The fourth block is supposed to move into the corner and stop. Here's my CalculiX input file. What should it be so...

Re: Topology optimization

There was a bug related to FC0.18. Now it should be fixed, so you can download updated file https://github.com/fandaL/beso/blob/master/beso_fc_gui.py Just a note to be sure: If you create new materials and have beso gui already opened, you should click "Update domains". But be sure to also recreate ...

Re: Topology optimization

Hi All, Can anyone describe how exactly should I prepare model and mesh if I ahve a regions which i don't want to optimize ? I am trying with boolean operatons but it seems to not work. Hi Blaze, Ordinary FreeCAD way for multiple materials (instead of booleans like cut, union, and intersection) is ...

Re: 2D axisymmetric

CalculiX can do it so after modifying inp file from FreeCAD, you could get it working. Maybe this can help for the beginning: Create a 2D model in xy plane where y is the axis of symmetry, as if you are making shell analysis, but do not constraint nodal rotations. Write inp file, modify element type...

Re: Topology optimization

When error is made by the GUI, FC0.18 crashes. https://github.com/fandaL/beso/issues/5 A bit annoying is that CalculiX opens everytime in foreground. https://github.com/fandaL/beso/issues/6 It should work with updated code. somehow I can no longer use my keyboard in FreeCAD after BESO is finished. ...

Re: Topology optimization

That means I need a model with at least two materials but if I try to add a different material to a surface, CalculiX shows me this error "it is not possible to have different reference shape types for material objects at the moment". I’m not sure if it is intended workbenchworkflow but dirty way c...

Re: Topology optimization

CalculiX uses all CPU threads (not whole time it is running). BESO inside does not use more threads. Second note is that if you would run larger and larger tasks you would notice that CalculiX takes smaller and smaller portion of the optimization time. This is due to data structure which gets rapidl...
