Re: bonding/gluing multiple bodies in FEM

Is there any other way to bonding/gluing multiple bodies in FreeCAD FEM ? Check the example in version 0.19 FEM wb -> Utilities -> Open FEM Examples -> Constraint Tie Constraint Tie should be able to glue faces on the 3D mesh. I would make BooleanFragments from all solids (to make one mesh object, ...

Re: Displaying Node numbers

I guess you use 0.18 version.

Re: Displaying Node numbers

Highlighting makes green dots at the node positions - select mesh object and write to the console: obj = FreeCAD.ActiveDocument.ActiveObject obj.ViewObject.HighlightedNodes = [1, 2, 3] where 1, 2, 3 are nodes to be highlighted. Use empty list [] to deselect highlight. For showing results on limited ...

Re: Displaying Node numbers

Hi, the labels in the figure were made by this macro https://github.com/fandaL/FreeCAD_macros/blob/master/FemLabels.py Unfortunately, it is not up to date with current FreeCAD, so it does not work. It was also very slow, since it created special text object for each number. By python commands, it is...

Re: FEm with Contact Constrain

For me it works on Linux machine as well as Windows machine, both with CalculiX 2.17 (version is printed in FreeCAD on the beginning of the log when you submit the run the analysis). Check if you really modified the mesh (double click on the mesh object and Apply), so the mesh contains linear elemen...

Re: FEm with Contact Constrain

CalculiX runs generally, but after some calculation fails with "Too many cutbacks". I've attached the FCStd and the .inp file. Analysis with contact can be sometimes difficult to set. Your model has 0 friction coefficient, so the cylinder can slip out of the contact surface. You should use non-zero...

Re: Topology optimization

Hopefully, I will look at it by the end of the next week. That would be great. Thanks. Now it works without freezing FC and graphs are continuously plotted on the background as iterations go on (tried on Linux and Windows). As regards adding to the Addon Manager, I was wondering what would be the b...

Re: Topology optimization

I am stepping through the release announcement of FC 0.19 to update the Wiki accordingly. This way I found this feature. When using the addon manager I don't find a macro named "Beso". Can you please add it so that beso can be installed via the AddonManager? I can use the macro but as it is, it nee...

Re: FreeCAD on the web

... Scientific_literature ... Good to have a page like this. Later, we can add a link to there from the main FreeCAD page. I would recommend to follow some citation style (there is plenty of them). It is really easy to generate citations by citation managers (e.g. https://zbib.org/ ). Sure, there i...

Re: FEM: Status of old GMSH interface PR and discussion of STL meshing through GMSH

A last comment: I know that we can create STLs from Geometry via the Mesh WB. As far as I remember there already exists a function to create also an STL from a FemMesh. Wouldn't it be nice to provide also a button for the latter one? I had the feeling that Mesh WB is sometimes not as exact w.r.t. g...
