Re: Von Mises Stress way too high

How is this possible. The Material is PLA, I am 44.48N of Area force. Why am I getting this really small piece of PLA can hold against 24946.5 Lb per square inch. Thats a nope for me. So what did I do wrong. For more precise results it would be better to use finer mesh. Linear static analysis (by d...

Re: Topology optimization

Sorry, I did a mistake. See the EDIT (point 1b ) in the previous post which should fix it for now (even it is not professional). It happened since I typically copy the python code to the working directory (keeping its version with ccx inputs) and start the analysis from Ipython console with cd d:\tm...

Re: Topology optimization

Hi Mark, I was thinking about making a simple gui for basic function of beso, but did not get to do it. With that one could quickly get "cool looking" pictures, but for more realistic use you will still need to do some hacks. You can try it in this way: 1) Download python files from https://github.c...

Re: FEM example files miss thumbnails

great! Would it be possible to update the PR, because the FEM examples have been updated in master recently ... https://github.com/FreeCAD/FreeCAD/pull/2019 I recreated it in the new branch (since first one was in my master and during cleaning I swept it all). https://github.com/fandaL/FreeC...

Re: restrict constraint on shells

First how do you show the node points? Look at View parameter of the mesh object: "Display Mode". How i created the funny mesh? no clue. I would expect the used settings are visible in my model. In "Mesh by GMSH" i select as model 2D model and max_mesh_size =10 AND min_mesh_size=1. that's it. You c...

Re: restrict constraint on shells

Hi, I get the same error from ccx with your mesh. It contains linear quad4 elements and quadratic tria6 elements which means mid-nodes of tria cannot be connected to quads. But it is not the object of the error. incompatible_linear_and_quadratic_mesh.png It seems that nodes was written to the inp fi...

Re: working directory setting

Ok. If I understand it correctly working directory setting (in the figure) has no effect if it is already defined in preferences. For me it was confusing that something “far from eyes” has priority over what I just see on the screen. Would it be worth to inform a user during writing the inp file if ...

working directory setting

Is this a small bug or intended behavior? Open example FemCalculixCantilever3D and before writing inp file select the working directory inside Mechanical analysis (i.e. CalculiXccxTools object). Contrary to my expectations it is written to the working directory defined in Edit – Preferences – FEM. W...
