Re: Is there a way to split one body into two and retain the link?

I think this example encapsulates what you are trying to do with the Link tool. (Barring TNP issues when you change things...) Thanks, can you confirm I understand how this was done correctly? You made Thing one in PartDesign by padding a rectangle, then making a pocket. This body was sliced in hal...

Re: PrusaSlicer breaks FreeCAD's spacemouse handling on Windows.

I found a kind of workaround for this problem so I decided to post for the benefit of anyone else finding this. Specifically, one has to open 3dconnexion software while PrusaSlicer is on and in foreground. Make sure the software has the right app name listed (PrusaSlicer) and one has to untick all m...

Re: Is there a way to split one body into two and retain the link?

is this the answer? you make a 1st half box you copy the whole box to put it in a 2nd body, make the 2nd half box if you move the 2 finished half boxes you see the 2 and the original if it is to make a half box and its lid, the border must be reversed I can't download the files now,but does this pr...

Re: Is there a way to split one body into two and retain the link?

there are several ways to proceed in Fc with drawings made in Fc importing drawings from other software seems less secure to me need an example to answer better Importing is not a part of this question. Based on my reading of the wiki page about StdAppLink I'm wasn't entirely sure it will do what I...

PrusaSlicer breaks FreeCAD's spacemouse handling on Windows.

I've had this problem for ages even back on freecad 0.18 on one of first win10 versions, and on another machine across two installs of Win10, but I figured it would get resolved when some software gets updated or with a subsequent windows reinstall. It hasn't so I guess no one else noticed. Addition...

Is there a way to split one body into two and retain the link?

So I've recently been designing a part I had to use SW to do rather than FreeCAD due to some issues with the shell command. So I had another opportunity to compare the two. This comparison came out quite favorable to FreeCAD, but I'm missing one feature that is really great in SW, so I decided to as...

Re: Another Thickness issue.

 Thanks. In this version one can't do fillets on the back feature edges with radius larger than the thickness. What I'm trying to achieve looks like this on the back: Screenshot from 2023-01-07 17-49-54.png This has shell thickness of 1.2mm, but the rounding on the back is over 2mm. Also if I...

Re: Another Thickness issue.

I can try a fillet here, but the radius is limited by the wall thickness and the internal angle is not following the fillet, but is always square: You can ususally do the fillet inside and outside at the same time, or do a fillet inside before the outside. Alas, here the outside fails, probably due...

Re: Another Thickness issue.

BTW, I tried using the clone tool, then scaling and boolean subtract, but unfortunately it is very difficult to get even wall thickness and not making holes in the back feature. Edit: I tried few more things and it appears the problem is not with the loft, but this feature at the back, or the fillet...

Re: Another Thickness issue.

Thanks for this. I see you removed the loft and did it by padding a sketch. That is a cool way to get to a very similar shape shape, but now I can't figure out how to make it have rounded edges on the sides. I can try a fillet here, but the radius is limited by the wall thickness and the internal an...
