Re: GSOC 2019

Develop a test framework as well as tests for the FEM Workbench which could later be adopted partially or as a whole or serve as an inspiration for all of FreeCAD. I think that would really help the FEM Workbench as there are few tests right now but a lot of code. Also the topic software testing re...

Re: GSOC 2019

Hey everyone, I just wanted to say that I would very much like to apply as a student this year again. The proposed projects sound very interesting but I already had a different project at mind: Develop a test framework as well as tests for the FEM Workbench which could later be adopted partially or ...

Do I need to create a GmshFemMesh by my own within the Analysis object, or the Elmer solver make its own FemMesh?
No you don't need to, that is handled by the elmer solver framework.

Re: Elmer Integration (GSoC) - Activity Log

Would be cool if Markus could give some hints ... Certainly :) Hello! Regards from Brazil :D I'm an acoustical engineering and since my discovering of FreeCAD i've been trying to adapt all my CAD work to the software... My latest deed was adding the Helmholtz Equation to Elmer solver, but i'm facin...

Re: Elmer Integration (GSoC) - Activity Log

Hi julieng, Nice work getting it to run on windows ;) I try a simple 3D fluid flow curve pipe test. I am a little bit lost with the Elmer BC. For the inlet I define a velocity in the way of the flow no prblem. For the walls I force a 0 velocity for all the wall boundaries. But for the outlet I canno...

But than the should not have a ViewProvider! Re: Elmer Integration (GSoC) - Activity Log

Hi bernd.

All elmer equation objects derive from one of those to classes. They contain properties common among linear/nonlinear equations. They are never directly used in the GUI.

Re: GSOC 2018

Very good proposal Markus! I would suggest you try to get out of the bounds of FEM, and try to propose a testing "framework" (specs, etc) that could apply to all other modules too, I think all of FreeCAD could benefit from this. But there is maybe no need to add that to your proposal... Thanks :D Y...

Re: GSOC 2018

Hey,

I just submitted my proposal: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1olP ... sp=sharing
I know it's a little last-minute, but I'd be thankful if some of you could find the time to look over it :)

regards,
Markus

Re: GSOC 2018 Calling for Ideas (FC is signed up through BRLCAD which has been accepted as an org!)

Bernd and I agreed on mentoring an 'polish the solver-framework' project. The aim is to write several unit tests for all newly introduced framework related parts of FEM-wb. This does not only target the Elmer-integration done last year but could also include tests for VTK-postprocessing or similar....
