Re: Assembly 3 : Plane Alignment problems
Wait... what? Separate sub assemblies? Can you have assemblies of assemblies? And then constrain between them? Assembly of random blobs... another assembly of blobs... constrain the whole assembly against the other (by one surface in each)? Oh fffff.... Ah nevermind, I've gone back to not using ASM3...

Re: Assembly 3 : Plane Alignment problems
Maybe I need to rebuild, but start with something basic like the first sponge-bracket, and lock a surface of it in place with the ASM3 "Locked Constraint"? That would be a good plan  I am waiting for results.... I'm on it... will post back in an hour when I've re-built :)

Re: Assembly 3 : Plane Alignment problems
Is there some magic trick to not having things suddenly jumble all over the place? still trying to untangle your files ;) but one thing is clear (as far as magic trick is concerned) - where is your "Locked" constraint???? You have to start assembly by locking first assembly part, so that ...

Re: Assembly 3 : Plane Alignment problems
Mostly... there's a Blower Backplane, but it's built from a ShapeBinder from the Blower, so dunno how you'd extract that from the assembly without breaking the part.

Re: Assembly 3 : Plane Alignment problems
I'm expecting the project to have a lot of parts... which I'd like to re-use across other projects (batteries, voltage convertors, wheels, etc)... so I try to keep reusable elements in a "library" ready for inclusion in other projects re-usable "parts" are all very well and I un...

Re: Assembly 3 : Plane Alignment problems
Sorry, I'm probably not helping myself with what is probably a confusing structure.
My thought is that anything unique to the project, to have those parts in the project... and anything re-usable in other projects, to have their own file. Dunno if that's a standard approach or not, sorry!

Re: Assembly 3 : Plane Alignment problems
Thanks for having a look :) Also, apologies for the frustration and "precious weekend" comment... I didn't mean to sound overly negative. I just didn't expect my weekend progress to be quite this slow :). If I can get over these niggles, I'm expecting the project to have a lot of parts... ...

Assembly 3 : Plane Alignment problems
Hello everyone! Is there some magic trick to not having things suddenly jumble all over the place? I've now been sat here for about 4 hours pulling my hair out trying to make parts in my assembly align correctly. I've got: a blower fan and a bracket for it a kitchen sponge, with a bracket to hold it...
