Re: Validate sketch doesn't work

I am wondering today, why freecad is breaking coincidences when running draft sketch. It isn't fixing anything. It overlaps and breaks coincidences. I can see the before and after. I am abandoning my attempts to use sketch validation, for now (unless I get better explanation), to find broken coincid...

Re: Validate sketch doesn't work

Working in the Draft WB does not mean that what you are creating is 2D. It is perfectly possible to connect two random points in 3D space with a Draft_Line f.e. To fix the issue: Switch to the Part WB. Select all objects in the 3D view (Shift+B) and create a Part_Compound . Switch to the Draft WB. ...

Re: Validate sketch doesn't work

What do you want to achieve? I wonder now if the OP perhaps wants to unwrap a curved piece of sheet metal. If that is the case the procedure I have outlined before does not make sense. I actually want to wrap down a curve into 4 inch segments at 20 mm, thus the slots. Some really, really good repli...

Re: Validate sketch doesn't work

Thanks. Here is the link to a sample https://drive.google.com/file/d/1BtNThJMEN5Lww-g-E8auo4A13YAM8FuJ/view?usp=sharing I need to run to work. I don't understand tolerances in the validation, despite reading and googling and videos. Maybe look at mine, run a tolerance test, and explain it in relatio...

Validate sketch doesn't work

I was extremely careful to snap. I drew an object with maybe an hundred sides, some small. I am getting complaints that my lines do not meet, by people importing my dxf drawing. However, I cannot see what they are seeing. I checked by using the draft to sketch tool. I run the coincidence checker, fo...

Re: Draft to sketch

that doesn't sound like a cad construction to me. Eventually, I need to extrude a side view of the part, add 4 middle parts, add a complimentary bottom, and 3 D model it. If not, I will try to use and artist. Currently, my 3 part is actually made up of bended sheet metal, attached by some hardware,...

Re: Draft to sketch

I finally got it to draft to sketch after using the modification tool in Draft called Shape to 2D. I am not sure why this helped, but it did. I then was able to use sketcher to supposedly find and fix 154 coincidences, which I couldn't see zooming in. I have been careful to snap stuff too. But there...

Re: The line dimensions I entered are not always correct in the drawing!

Yeah, I too had some weird stated measurements. I killed freecad, careful not to save, and reopened. Then, the measurements read correctly. It was just with certain lines, oddly.

Re: The line dimensions I entered are not always correct in the drawing!

I get many weird issues like this. I normally kill the program and restart and things get better. Windows ver. .19.

My latest weirdness has been my drawing drifting off the grid on various save iterations, and converged lines that open up and separate.

Draft to sketch

When I draw something in 20 minutes, I can do a draft to sketch. If I spend 20 days on it, draft to sketch doesn't work. I have tried lines, shapes, holes arcs, wires. I really just need to verify coincidences, making sure all the constraints worked. I can zoom, but how much is enough ? Plus I have ...
