Re: 0001304: Allow Sketcher to Fillet Arcs, Not Only Lines

FreeCAD has improved leaps and bounds since you registered here 4 years ago. But you have to be willing to learn its features. And on that, I think that the whole discussion you started has absolutely nothing to do with the topic, and should be split into a separate one. That may be the case. I've ...

Re: 0001304: Allow Sketcher to Fillet Arcs, Not Only Lines

I'm still not following you. A fillet is not "set" when it's applied to lines. Just drag an arc after it's been created by the fillet function, and you will see. You need to apply constraints to ensure its radius is set, this is how the Sketcher works. And please don't compare the Sketche...

Re: 0001304: Allow Sketcher to Fillet Arcs, Not Only Lines

You are talking about the Sketcher Fillet, right? In the Sketcher you need to define dimensions through constraints. So to set the fillets radii you'll have to create a radius constraint. My point is that this is set in the tool when using straight lines but not when one of the lines is an arc. The...

Re: 0001304: Allow Sketcher to Fillet Arcs, Not Only Lines

Do you have an image of the wheel? And can you upload your model so far? If you want a non standard fillet you would probably rather use a sweep than a loft. This is where I've got to so far. I do need to start again, and do the rim, hub and spokes as three separate objects that can be combined. Or...

Re: 0001304: Allow Sketcher to Fillet Arcs, Not Only Lines

Having found that I could not handle the case that I am currently working I ended up firing up a current preview of 0.18 to see how it handled the problem. I'm trying to model a 7 1/4" gauge loco wheel which has a base of 10 spokes. So the 'holes' between the spokes are straight lines terminate...

Re: Converting existing material

No need for the lecture ... If there was one way of doing things there would not be a problem, but even phpBB can have different ways of working on different sites. One just has to learn the rules for each site :( Anyway http://medw.co.uk/wiki/index.php?page=Living+with+CAD-CAM+today Is where I am c...

No just not learnt the tricks to add a URL without the submit failing ;) God I hate on-line forums, give me a good email based input any day ... Seriously, what's hard in selecting the URL in your navigator's address bar, doing CTRL+C then clicking in the message box and doing CTRL+V? I've never ha...

Re: Converting existing material

but the specific problem was moving a DXF file to the right plane. I'm used to selecting the working plane and simply importing In FreeCAD it is so much more simple than that, you just import (or open) the file ...then rotate is to wherever you want. There are several ways to rotate, just go to the...

Re: Converting existing material

As yet I don't have much of this converted. Some material is just loading fine, but the specific problem was moving a DXF file to the right plane. I'm used to selecting the working plane and simply importing, something which 'align sketch to face' is probably the alternative for? Anyway making progr...

Converting existing material

Having been using CAD since the days of Autocad 2.something and having switched to TurboCAD a good fewyears back when the cost of Autocad became a joke, I've quite a range of material in many formats. I'm slowly getting my head around how freecad works which is difficult when so used to 'old habits'...
