Re: Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) workbench using OpenFOAM

For me, it is the most interesting workbench in FC, very interesting and promising.

Re: 3rd Party render servers to calculate and render FEM projects for FreeCAD

Have a look at Anaconda Cloud - https://anaconda.org/freecad/calculix - FC and Calculix are mentioned here, but to be honest I dont know how it works...Maybe someone know here in forum?

Re: 3rd Party render servers to calculate and render FEM projects for FreeCAD

The other option: You can buy cluster / good workstations yourself and provide such services to FreeCAD users. All money earned could supply development of FreeCAD . You don't need big DevOps skills to do so, the biggest cost is hardware here. Maybe not from today, but in future I think it is worth ...

Re: 3rd Party render servers to calculate and render FEM projects for FreeCAD

I think it will be easy to use such solutions like Amazon or Google Cloud Platform for this tasks, as all software involved is free / open source :) However I do not think that you find anything for free! There are already such solutions based on FOSS (and of course commercial) software for FEM and ...

Re: CAD/CAE History: An Interactive Timeline

Now there are few versions of OpenFoam, at least three major version as far as I remember. Old, good one (FOSS), new by ESI (free and open, but commercial), extended-project (FOSS).

Re: Is FreeCAD the right CAD software for what I wanna do ?

FC is fantastic software, however for such things I would try Blender and Blender-CAM + special add-on.

Have a look here:

Re: What about using GPU's to speed up matrix math?

How would you apply ML / AI to CAD software ? ;) I think it would be nice if FC could use multi-core CPU. Now when you run a little bigger macro GUI of FC freezes for some time. But as someone here wrote it is impossible because of libraries used in this software. ( Tensor Flow (from Google) is FOSS...

Re: What about using GPU's to speed up matrix math?

Something for FEM workbench? Yes, when Calculix get this functionality it will be "automatically" available in FC ;). In my opinion this is difficult subject. I see that commercial CAD packages have problems with utilizing all CPU cores. They use multithreading "only" for Render...

I have read it and don't understand, but the good thing is I am not the only one who don't understand this ;)

Some examples and tutorials are welcome!
